In Moscow today, the three members of punk band Pussy Riot were convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and sentenced to two years in jail.

Their crime? Staging an anti-government performance protest in a church. The guerilla protest in a Russian Orthodox church involved a song attacking the relationship between President Vladimir Putin and the church.

Yeah. 2 days would have been too much. It would be nice if the current administration here was as concerned about Free Speech domestically as they appear to be abroad.

It seems that Politix neglected to mention the vandalism, destruction, assaults and other crimes that the 'Pussy Riot Band' was charged with performing.
Typical self-rightous Americans acting as their judicial system Is any better; if these crimes were performed in the West, they would be spending ten to fifteen years in a Federal Prison.

Why all the publicity over a bunch of self-indulgent, overexposed brats? In 12 months they will be signing million dollar record deals, magazine articles and chat show appearances - not bad for 12 months or less. Where is the outrage when a man was jailed for 6 months in London last year, for stealing bottled water?
