Israel is eager to engage Iran before the clock strikes November 6th in America.
That's the word from ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern, who believes the powers that be in Israel are concerned that in the event of a second-term Obama, the pressure would be off to side with Israel in case of an attack on Iran. That gives the country less than 3 months to act decisively vis-à-vis its American partners on any potential Iranian threat.
"The Israelis want to zap them between now and November 6," said McGovern, "and the chances are at least even that they will try to do that thinking the U.S. will come in with both feet."
McGovern, now a prominent anti-war activist, doesn't believe Israel actually fears a nuke in the hands of Iran because the Jewish state already has an arsenal of its own. But, he claims, the deterrent effect could be important.
"Since 1967 the Israelis have been able to pretty do much to whatever they want in that area," says McGovern, "and would like to end any possibility, however remote, that anytime soon Iran could have minimal deterrent capability."

Sorry Keyjo, The sale of weapons is where the real money to be made is. The tax breaks are just a running cynical gag to see how long people will believe the idea that ultra rich people will actually generate anything back into the economy be it jobs or industry.
I agree no more wars unless it is in defense of our country. Obama escalated what he called the good war in Afghanistan and more have been killed on his watch than under Bush. If I voted for Obama to end the wars, I would ask for a refund.
IMAQT but you need to keep in mind the Bush decided to minimize the commitment in Afghanistan so he could invalid Iraq. That totally unnecessary war caused 109,032 deaths including 66,081 civilian deaths.
I agree with him that the objective of Israeli talk and maybe even action is to get the USA to bear the burden of neutralizing Iran's nukes, present or future. Likely they don't have the military capability to do the job themselves. If Iran gets nukes and/or the US is unwilling to support Israel with it's FULL military and financial might the Israeli's may be forced to modify their entire foreign policy. The USA must ask itself it giving Israel a blank check, militarily and financially it worth the consequences.
President Obama would support Israel. The R & R team seem to have bit of the Bush era war monger in them. The R & R team is going to put this country of ours on the tracks and run it straight to hell. No passing go and no collecting taxes on the Rich.
Just what makes you think ol' BHO will support Israel? His actions to this point wouldn't inspire confidence if I were Israel. It's nice to see at least one of the candidates willing to stand firmly behind our allies and have their backs (that would be the R & R). BTW, the country is ON THE ROAD TO HELL, R & R are the only chance we have to get off that rocketship and get back to the path of prosperity.
President Obama's history on foreign Affairs has been do what is nessacary when it needs to be done. He approaches problems in an intelligent way. Example; 8 years of Bush = no Bin laden. 3 years of Obama = Dead Bin laden. Simple math my friend. Oh yes, now to R&R or as I like to call them "The Trickle Down Twins". Their belief is that if you feed the pig, while it's eating it will drop some crumbs for the surfs below and all will be right with the world. Well trickle down didn't work for Reagan in his time and it will not work now. Your reply will be "things were good under Reagan. When actually Reagan was the beginning of the problems we face now. Reagan lowered taxes one time while raising them ten. Our debt was at 3 trillion dollars, government had grown to almost twice the size as it was when he took office. When he ran on a "smaller government less taxes platform". Does any of this sound familiar to you? Now a question for you lgrepublican. What President, with what bill got the national debt under control?
Israel can strike at lunchtime today if they wish, just don't ask me to give them any money or weapons to do it. I have no love or sense of responsibility to either of these nations, so let them go to war on their own dime.
Since he barely supports them now, I'm inclined to believe he'll walk totally away from Israel and leave them to thier own devices. One thing he cannot change or anyone else, and that's the Israelis are still Gods' chosen people. It would be to our benefit to continue supporting them.
I suppose it depends on how Israel reacts towards It's neighbors. Everyone that has been paying attention knows that Saudi Arabia is our best friends in the area. Israel is more of a client than a friend. So if Israel drags their paymasters into a war with another one of their neighbors while the world economy is in shambles the American people, business sector and government should be very upset.
If Israel decides to attack Iran it will be because it's in there interest to do so and if they have our support or not it won't matter because it'll be bye bye Ayatollah. Israel will take our help but they don't need it.
The State of Israel has hundreds of nukes and is one of the most powerful nations in the world. The election won't change anything. If the State of Israel wants war with Iran they will have it. It's a sad situation.
Israel wants to strike Iran on the ground that the persians are trying to become a nation with nuclear capabilities to strike any country .Do you believe this?Saddam Hussein got knocked and his country invaded and his people killed because of a lie.Now israel is pushing the Americans to wage a war against Iran or they will attack the Iranians by themselves. That's what we call, making troubles and looking for troubles.Does Israel has nuclear arsenal?Yes, it does.Does Iran want to wage war againt the state of Israel because the jewish own a nuclear capability and ready to strike Iran? No, Israel is always making troubles and feeling nervous when the Middle East is Quiet and peaceful?Israel doesn't like peace, she likes United States to wage war on her behalf and make the world unstable all the time.
