Anderson Cooper's not-so-surprising announcement has been media buzz story of the day.

Cooper publicly came out in an email posted (with Cooper's permission) by blogger Andrew Sullivan: "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud." He explained why he'd decided to come out now, after remaining quiet for so long:

    Yes, there is.
    Of course the fact that the "Silver Fox" is gay has been well known for quite some time. But the more visible we are, the better. Too bad so many celebs, like Tom Cruise, lack the gonads.
    I'm still waiting to see if Prince Harry comes out in the near future.

    I'm confused. I honestly thought he came out years ago. I just figured he was like Ellen. Nobody gave a crap because they are both good at their jobs... Well, Anderson can lose it every now and then...

    What Bob means is that this is a left had think tank; a liberal organization. they have already preconceived ideals and extremely biased in their interpretation of you post. You appear to be a conservative so it is AUTOMATIC that your post want have much weight in their evaluation records. Dont expect to many pats on the back.

    No I don't think Cooper is right. I don't care who he's sleeping with. I never thought about it in all the years Cooper has been around. Not once has the thought crossed my mind "I wonder if Anderson Cooper is straight or gay?". Not even once. IT'S NOBODY'S BUSINESS. But since we're all doing it, "hey, my name is Dusty Outlaw and I'm straight and I think it's important that you all know that. Now don't each and every one of you feel comforted in knowing my sexual preference. Tune in tomorrow and I'll be telling the first name of every woman I ever slept with."

    I've been SOOO worried about that!!! Thank you for the clarification. Apparently although we scream about how we're losing our privacy, it's still imperative that we announce, then discuss in depth our sexual, political and, I think whether we like chocolate or vanilla ice cream, whenever and wherever we go ..btw I'm straight white and female ..who do I need to apologize to for any or all of these digressions?

    That's funny, I thought sexual orientation was a lifestyle or even a biological tendency. I didn't realize it was a "stance". In any case, I'm sure the three people on earth who didn't know AC was gay will be suitably impressed with his "courageous" announcement.

    Whatever happened to journalists focusing on informing the public about the events of the day?

    Absolutely and unequivocally there is value in public figures coming out of the closet and taking a stand with their fellow LGBT's. I for one am very proud of Anderson Cooper for coming out the way he did. After all, he is known as one who keeps them honest, as such he should be honest as well. More LGBT's need to unite and take a stand together and claim their pride. This is a new era LGBT's should take pride in who and what they are and those people who have a problem with it be damned.

    I dont think so. I think everybody thinks everybody in hollywood is a homo. coming out it just another day. Hollywood is filled with LGBT.

    Something i knew since 2003! His sexual preference is nobody's bussiness! The man does a good job on t.v ,that's his job and the only thing that should matter.

    Now I have another reason not to watch Anderson Cooper. Not that I have anything against him as a member of the human family, but anybody who uses their sexual perversion preferences as the dominant factor of their identity is not worthy to hold any kind of a job. My reasoning is that in all of human history homosexuals as homosexuals and not as humans, have never contributed anything positive to any society. Quite to the contrary, their prominence and acceptance in any given society has contributed to the down fall of that society.

    I'm with you on this one. Wonder what would happen, if we went to the news room and stated that 'I'm straight', would that have made news? Or I just got married, to a man, or your case, just got married to a woman, why must they advertise? We do not go around doing this. If someone gets married, man to woman, makes them sick, what is so wrong with us stating that this makes me sick?

    And yes God is against this. And you covered that mighty well. Good job.

    Such a handsome and dignified man! I just don't see why it's news when people come out gay, as if it's some significance to what gender some random person finds attractive! Who cares? What's it our business who's banging who? Oh, it's Topix and Politix business, I forgot ;)
