Ron Paul may be down, but he's not exactly out.
Though the Republican black sheep was unable to secure enough delegates in Nebraska last weekend to make him nomination-worthy, his legacy may live on with his
Audit the Fed plan. Word has it that Paul's idea of forcing disclosure of the Federal Reserve's lending practices might be officially adopted in the GOP party platform.
An anonymous GOP source has
informed Business Insider that a recent meeting between Mitt Romney and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (Ron Paul's son) saw the idea of the audit go over quite well. The details of this plan for Federal Reserve scrutiny will be presented at the Republican National Convention next month in Tampa.
Why should the mainstream of the Republican party be interested in this mission of shining a light on the Fed? Because,
BI writes, it's "popular among rank-and-file Republican voters, uniting the Tea Party and Ron Paul libertarian factions of the GOP."
