Asians are now at the front of the line of those wanting to become Americans.
But it's not like their numbers have suddenly surged. No, rather the tide of illegal immigration has subsided

Newser. Around 430,000 Asians, or 36% of all immigrants (both legal and illegal), migrated to the US in 2010 he writes. But only 370,000 Hispanics made the same move that year.
The Pew
study from which this data is drawn observes that "Asian-Americans are the highest-income, best-educated and fastest-growing racial group in the United States." Indeed, nearly 70% of recent immigrants from South Korea and Japan have at least a bachelor's degree. How many US citizens, of all stripes, can claim the same? Around
27%.
