Obama and Romney both showcased their immigration policies at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials conference this week. Romney's speech got a mixed reaction. Obama's, an ovation. Here's why.
Obama got props for last week's immigration announcement, though he admits it isn't a permanent solution, and said Congress needs to answer on immigration reform. It's essentially the same thing he said in 2008 - before setting a record for deportations.
Romney, unlike Obama, gave specifics on his immigration plan:
As President, I will reallocate Green Cards to those seeking to keep their families under one roof. We will exempt from caps the spouses and minor children of legal permanent residents. And we will eliminate other forms of bureaucratic red tape that keep families from being together...If you get an advanced degree here, we want you to stay here - so we will staple a green card to your diploma.
The problem with any ideas from Republicans addressing immigration is that too many latinos have bought into the fear tactics of the Left.
The idea that the Republican Party would ever kow-tow to the never-a-chance-at-legality-unt il-you-uproot-resettle-and-wai t crowd is insulting.
The Republicans have had their racist base under control for a long time. They can't stop them from voting Republican. At least they are smart enough to know that Democrats definitely don't have the white racist heart in mind like they did before Dick Nixon and his helpful "Southern Strategy". The problem is that we fiscal conservatives get lumped in with them... And our message gets lost.
How nice. It's funny how the Left accuses the Right of using code words... that doesn't look like code to me. That looks like a Social Righty shooting himself in the foot. Keep it up. I want everyone to see that I don't like that stuff and I will call you on it. I have to tolerate you. And vice-versa. Ain't the First Amendment grand?
Like Planned Parenthood, misguided and well-intentioned people allow La Raza to speak for them. Like Planned Parenthood, their original intent was racial. like many groups in the 60's. Riddled with and dominated by revolutionaries. It has grown powerful and is still riddled with "evolutionaries". Just like Progressives.
My question to La Raza is... Why hold onto that name? It's legal for a bunch of white racists to start an organization called "The Race". No laws... Unless La Raza sued for trademark infringement.
It all just makes me doubt their stated intent. And that makes them untrustworthy sources. Just like the Christian groups that try to convince us all that homosexuals will be rapin' and molestin' if we don't clamp down. See how it all fits? lol :)
Keep pluggin' away buddy. The truth is out there. It's just that too many people are hiding it for most people to even bother looking. That's why it's important to keep the ability to use force away from all of them.
Hope you don't mind me linking up your threads. My apologies if you do. My intent is not to use the Good People. But to let them all know that we are a distinct group which has been used too long by the other two. They are the ones that like to use force on opponents. If we ignore them, they control the conversation. Mock them. Use them. Expose them.
Could you please explain your reasons for thinking so? Ignore the rants from the bigots. From both sides... that's why they're bigots. They've already decided. They don't matter. It's the people who I think are basing their beliefs on falsehoods without their knowledge that I care about. They might be able to be convinced.
So if you have solid reasons for having your opinions. I'm interested. If not? You're tolerable.
Im just seeing to much stupid rhetoric from the right. Rhetoric thats totally uncalled for and to extreme. Maybe I watch to Much Daily show and Colbert report and love them, but if what they do make fun is true, then Im going with logic and reason instead of political affiliation. And that is that the right makes it their job to amplify things to gigantic proportions to the point of stupidity.
I looked up that post. Im not those people. I can't be that stupid if I wanted to. I base everything on logic and reason, not on stupidity and bigotry.
Ur opponent is just stupid and hes being an idiot on purpose. Its typical right wing Bullshit where race is thrown into the argument to troll rather than making a point. his point is he Hates Obama and hes using race as an argument. Any smart person knows if you have to resort to race in an argument, you already lost. Race never has anything to do with anything.
I kinda put those kind of people in the same catagories as highly religious people and their arguments against gays, evolution and needing to argue against atheists because they aren't religious: They dont listen to logic and reason and believes that their ways are absolute. You just can't win against those people, but its fun to go back and see what stupid counter arguments they come up with.
"Im just seeing to much stupid rhetoric from the right. Rhetoric thats totally uncalled for and to extreme. This is your sticking point...
"but if what they do make fun is true"... It's taken out of context and amplified into gigantic proportions of stupidity by Jon Stewert and Stephen Colbert.
They are a late-night-hour-long version of SNL's "Weekend Update". They do display their bias and work it into their shows. Especially with the amplification.
I'd advise you to find a few good news aggregators from both sides of the political fence and try to synthesize it just to get an idea of what the Truth is. And then start digging. That's the best I've come up with to base my Reasons on.... Not Satire. Satire is a tool of persuasion. Opinions based primarily on satire are foolish in my opinion... but that's not my choice to make ;)
Romney has no real plan! And he doesn't care about minorities at all! The whole republican party is such a joke right now! If they were to win the election this year they would have no plan on how to fix shit because all they worry about is how they are gonna get the black man out of the white house. I don't get how 83% of americans still blame bush for the fall of our economy, yet half of the americans are willing to vote the republican party back into power even though they have showed no sign of changing they're ways. They are just gonna follow these political ideas handed down from reagan (which don't work and never will). Even when Obama agrees with some republican principles, the republicans turn on those principles just to disagree with Obama. Its childish!
These conservative media groups just make up lies straight to our faces and people are dumb enough to actually believe them because barely anyone will actually do their own research anymore. They see someone post that Obama has put us in a trillion dollar debt and they just believe it instead of doing research and figuring out he has spent roughly about $2.6 billion.
Am I saying Obamas perfect? No not at all. He has not been able to keep some promises he made to the country, but things don't always go as planned and we all make mistakes. The best we can do is learn from them. But when the republican party nearly fucks the economy to oblivion then shows everyone that they didn't learn from that mistake, then they lost any chance of me voting for them.
And before any of you try to insult me,(which is pussy shit over the internet), just know that I am coming from as much of an unbiased view as possible. So don't call me a stupid Libby because I am not a liberal, I'm not a conservative, im not any of that shit. I was a conservative my whole life till reality slapped me in the face. A lot of people focus on the things obama has done that they don't agree with, but if they would take the time to look at the good things he has done they would see him as a better president. Don't forget that obama has had to make a lot more decisions than most presidents had to make while in office, so of course there are gonna be more decisions you won't agree with. You can't make everyone happy. And I respect Obama for having the guts to tackle these big decisions that other presidents didn't have the balls to step up to
He saved wall street, he stopped the fall of the automotive industry which saved a lot of jobs, slowed the recession, he made protecting the environment a priority also creating many jobs that are focused to help do this. He has made many steps towards making american education cheaper and is trying to improve the system, he got the focus of the war out of Iraq, he put more restrictions on industry pollution, he got rid of a lot of tension between the muslim american relations, he fixed americas global cooperation so now other countries are willing to work with us again. And that's just in the first year! There is a lot more lol. And don't forget about michelle obama who has been accomplishing a lot also but doesn't get much credit
I would love to say that he has done more for the economy but the republicans are doing everything they can not to let anything pass. They are trying to make it look like obama isn't accomplishing anything while in office so he'll be voted out.
Some people are giving the guy crap about dealing with social issues right before election, but I think is a good move because if the republicans aren't gonna let him do anything with the economy, then he should focus on social issues were progression can actually be made. The economy will not get better till republicans and democrats start working together, but right now that is not happening
"He saved wall street, he stopped the fall of the automotive industry which saved a lot of jobs, slowed the recession,"
He saved a lot of union jobs and wall street jobs and fortunes all while prolonging the recession and increasing taxpayer debt. with stimuli and bailouts. They devalued the dollar with Quantitative Easing http://www.creditwritedowns.com/2011/06/qe1-v...
Here's a related link that discusses the two general ways in which government can intervene in a recession and the consequences.
"he made protecting the environment a priority also creating many jobs that are focused to help do this."
"He has made many steps towards making american education cheaper and is trying to improve the system,"
Do you mean like school vouchers? He has been trying to kill thenDC voucher program since his first day in office. One of the first thing he did after getting Churhill's bust out of the Oval Office was to try and shut it down. Do you know who objetced and still objects? Poor black parents and students in Washington DC. Some even go to class with his daughters. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politi...
Clarence McKee and I agree that President Obama will win the black vote in November. We also agree that more Americans of African descent will vote for Romney than most people think. I like his honesty. His acknowledgement of reality and the course our present path will take us.
Hmm. I personally think Obama has something up his sleeve on this one. He has decided to let them stay...for two years. He does not trust them to be in the same room with them while they are eating, the forks and knives had to be rushed out of the room... Before Obama could talk to them. Hmmm. I think I'm smelling some Bull$h1+ here. If I were Latino, I would have been highly insulted by this, even if I were an illegal alien, I would have been insulted by this. Did he have the utensils taken up at his big dinner in Hollywood, when he ate with the stars? I think not.
Hispanic, heck, red, blue, black, orange, white. Whatever nationality, or race, don't sell yourselves short. Think hard about the choice you make. It's one that some will be stuck with for two years, or four years. Or even life, for some. Make your voice heard either way you decide to vote, we'll just have to let the slick end slide and the rough end drag.
Generally Liberals are more pliable towards immigration rules than Conservatives, thus it is in a lot of Latinos best interest or at least their homeland bound families members interest to support Obama.
