We must listen to Hollywood airheads like Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Morgan Freeman because they are "stars"? Why is his opinion any more important than Joe Blow. Today’s worship of "stardom" is more grotesque than Hitler’s notion of the Aryan race. Through movies, magazines, and TV, liberals promote a cult of idealized "stardom" that is so extreme as to be unimaginable. adolph must be laughing in hell.

I like Brad Pitt's response to a reporter: I'm just an actor why do you care what I think?

I consider it telling that people waste their time arguing over something so trivially unimportant. President Obama's impact on our lives arises from the policies he pursues, not from the racial pigeonhole a bunch of self-important fools agree to put him in.

I'm with Jack Black. I thought President Clinton was the first "black President"

    So said Toni Morrison.
    http://ontology.buffalo.edu/smith/clinton/mor...

But Canadian Indy has some reservations...

"Now let's deal with the blackness issue. Let's get it out there for the whole world to read: OBAMA IS NOT BLACK. Don't get me wrong, he is an human being of African-American nationality with skin that is generally regarded as a darker shade. But he isn't black. He's more like the kind of brown you get when you mix milk into your coffee. Don't believe me? Look up pictures of The Rock and Obama and put them side by side, then look up a picture of Wesley Snipes and compare it to Obama. Which does he look more like?"

    http://politix.topix.com/stmt/PNJNJSEH52Q283J...

I guess Morgan Freeman agrees with CanadianIndy since Morgan said this...

    "He's not America's first black president - he's America's first mixed-race president."

Is this differentiating between shades of brown common among blacks? I have to claim ignorance if blacks do... The "rule" for all of us whiteys out here is that anyone who has any black ancestry is entitled to the "black" label. Has that rule changed? or are only blacks allowed to talk of about "half-black" or "coffee with cream".

Is "oreo" still an insult or even more of an insult now? What are the correct terms? Even though I had to learn words like "mulatto" back in junior high, I know that those terms aren't politically correct. What do "mixed-race" people prefer to be called?

Take me for example. I have a german ancestry on one side of the family and a mixed European ancestry on the other. I describe myself as a "mutt". President Obama has a Kenyan father and a mother that probably had a mixed European ancestry as well. While I'd like to call President Obama a mutt as well... I didn't think I was allowed.

    Am I?

I like Morgan Freeman as an actor. I generally watch everything he is in. I consider him a fine actor. But I don't care what he has to say about politics. I don't care what extremist right wing Charlton Heston said or what extremist left winger Barbra Streisand has to say. They are, after all, actors.

I don't care if I am allowed... I'm gonna do it anyway.

President Obama is a "mutt", just like me and almost every other American with more than one generation separating them from the "old country".

The Irish were discriminated against until they assimilated. Same with Italians and Slavs. Asians (how's that for an overgeneralization?) have and still have their share.

I understand that there is a difference between the racial divide and the ethnic divide that has led to it taking longer for other "races" than other European ethnicities. I also understand the issues that have divided blacks and whites since before the discovery of the Americas up until this day... probably better than most.

I know that blacks have been the victims of overt, brutal slavery, then overt and brutal repression, then subtle and suspicious suppression, and now smiling faces offering handouts.

I know that the concept of "acting white" is keeping some blacks from wanting to achieve in school or participate in the mainstream. I know the concept of "white privilege" keeps some blacks from trying. I know that fear tactics about republican racism keep too many blacks from making democrats earn their votes. I know that government dependency dampens the spirit and makes one subservient and pliable.

I knew in 2008 that the first black President would not lead to a post-racial United States. I knew in 2008 that it would only be worse now. What I've figured out since then and now know today is "Why?"

I'd never really examined the issue of self-segregation vs. assimilation in overcoming discrimination.

America will be a "Post-Racial Nation" when most everyone calls themselves a "mutt". When that happens... Even the "purebreds" won't look down their noses at anyone... Because they're always surrounded ;)
