In news that surprises, the FBI
shows us that five of its seven most wanted domestic terrorists are women.
Business Insider relays the counter-intuitive news that it's mostly women who are wanted for the crime of "attacking Americans based on U.S.-based extremist ideologies." Below is a list of their names, crimes, and political affiliations:
1.
Donna Joan Borup: Communist on the run since 1982 after throwing acid into the face of a police officer.
2.
Joanne Deborah Chesimard: Black nationalist militant who murdered a state trooper in 1973, was sentenced to prison, but escaped in 1979.
3.
Josephine Sunshine Overaker: Radical environmentalist accused of arson and attempting to destroy an energy facility.
4.
Rebecca Rubin: Radical environmentalist wanted on two counts of arson.
5.
Elizabeth Anna Duke: Communist wanted for alleged involvement in a number of violent incidents in the 1970s and early 1980s, on the run since 1985.
