u 11 hr King06 v No, they haven't Mr. Obama never was elected to try alter an American institution of racism and prejudice. Racism has been in existence since 1776 and not one person can change it. In my opinion, race relations in the Southern and Midwestern states have become more hostile due to the fact that a person of color is President of these United States of America. Post

May 6 MadAmerican That is correct however I believe his wife has also shown the racism towards wife in snippets from interviews. But the bottom line is Obama is out to destroy this country from the inside and will do whatever it takes to succeed in his Muslim agenda. B1 Post @MadAmerican

u May 3 oldsolder v No, they haven't No and it's only getting worse. I a Mexican shoots and kills a African American it's the whites fault. If a teenage black girl gets arrested and expelled from school because she built and set off a bomb in her school it's because of racism. Wesley Snipes doesn't pay his taxes and gets put in jail, he claims its because he's black. A young black man is shot and killed in his neighborhood, the police are accused of not caring because the kid is black. How are the police supposed to investigate the crime if the black community claims they didn't see anything and won't talk? I've been married to a black women for more than twenty two years, we are rejected by both black ... Post
May 3 cat2009 v No, they haven't Michelle has been the biggest endorsor of racial profiling. She goes out during his campaign and seems to stir the pot all over. And Obama has done a real good job himself with his comments to the people of New Orleans after Katrina. But ask the people of Detroit now how they feel about their hero all those promises and they got nothing but left behind now that his focus is on immigration. Seems that the only winner here is the illegal Mexican. Post
May 2 Prime_Meridian v No, they haven't I would say that President Obama has NOT been responsible for improved race relations, but I would say that President Obama being elected, and then re-elected IS evidence that race relations have improved in the USA. I would even guess that certain TV programs of the early 2000s, that featured African-Americans as President were more responsible for the election of an African-American President than anything that President Obama has done. It acclimated Americans to the idea. Almost like what "Evening Shade" and "Designing Women" did for Liberal Southerners during the Clinton Years. Post
u Apr 30 gherlone v No, they haven't and it has been largely Mr. Obama and his supporters working hardest to undermine race relations. his divide and conquer strategy to enact his agenda is doing more to damage trust between people of different races, income levels, religious beliefs, etc. in this country. Apr 29 busseja v No, they haven't he is a divide and conquer type of person and his personality is either reflected in or a reflection of our society. You just can't divide everyone into groups then say we are all the same. Post
u Apr 29 BossTweed v No, they haven't Way worse. Obama's emphasis on Hyphenating Americans into disconnected strangers has set us back at least a decade. Very sad. He is no more interested in bringing us together than some "calif" Unioncrat or Larazacrat. Post
Apr 26 harold_lloyd v Yes, they have The fact that they have improved is overshadowed by the volume and shrill tones of the entrenched racists who cannot understand how a person of mixed race could possibly have won the presidency. (Communist plot!) They 'know' it's a white man's world, just like the one they grew up in, and this is a terrible intrusion into their view of reality. Fortunately, they are mostly old and won't last much longer. Post
u Apr '13 bleuvert v No, they haven't While the election of President Obama might have shown that many people will look past race, it has also shown that many people don't look past race. I believe that truly bigoted people have just more vocal about it. Race relations haven't really improved. The more things change, the more some things stay the same. There has been a rise in hate groups, the divisions that already existed are felt more, and generally, more racist persons have come out of hiding because they do not like the fact that someone who is Black is in the White House. Post
u Apr '13 SuperBeast v No, they haven't He is a race-baiter. He has never TRIED to make them better. This question is rhetorical. Post
Mar '13 BloodRedGeisha v No, they haven't Just look at the internet. People safely, behind their computer screens reveal their foulest thoughts, many of them racist on both sides , black and white. Their true faces are shown , many blacks and whites harbor ugly thoughts about each other and keep it hidden in public - spewing it all forth on these topix forums. Post

Feb '13 ZombieMedic v No, they haven't Everyoine should read Jim Goad's book, "The Redneck Manifesto", it's a very insightful book that in part exposes how the rich have used racism to divide and subjugate the poor in this country. Racism is a tool and tactic of the Democrats, and they have been manipulating it since the 1820s starting with the Trail of Tears, then Slavery, then Seggregation, then Civil Rights. Democrats have ALWAYS pitted poor blacks against poor whites. It's all a con-game. Post
Aug '12 ir0nw0lfe v No, they haven't Obama has worked hard to pandering to every group imaginable. He plays the race card when it is convenient and has made class and race warfare a main component of his policies. The sad part is that judging by the economic conditions that most minoritirs now find themselves, Obama's policies have been ineffective at best and indifferent at worst. Not really a leader for anyone. I believe Obama's only true cause is Obama and his ideology for weakening the US on the global stage. B5 r10 replies e98 endorsed Post
Aug '12 Wilberhum v No, they haven't Improvement in race relations is what allowed Obama to win. But that win has brought all the racists out of the closet. But to hide their true hatred because of his race, they talk about birth certificate and lie about his religion. B4 e32 endorsed Post
o Aug '12 JpMonty v No, they haven't No they haven't, due to the fact that the president, along with a lot of other people, has kept the race-baiting alive!!! From Al Sharpton to the WHITEST liberal, they are always looking to keep the race hate alive!!! You know why? Because they would be out of a job if they didn't!!! I live in a southern TN town, and never hear hardly anything racist!!! We have people of all different races!!! But you know what? WE COEXIST!!! Washington, DC is what keeps racism alive! In my eyes racism is nowhere to be seen!!! B3 e23 endorsed Post

Aug '12 Creole v Yes, they have The mere fact that our country elected an African American as POTUS is enough to say yes. In my opinion, since Obama's election there have been more open discussion and debate about race relations which is always a good thing. Plus, we are starting to see more non Caucasians, in both parties, step up to the forefront....Maybe that's why the "majority" on this site thinks it's a bad thing. Just sayin... B2 e21 endorsed Post

u Aug '12 lochlomond v No, they haven't If anything, the last few years have made matters worse. I watched a clip of Chris Matthews accusing Newt Gingrich of racism for his "nation of people on foodstamps " remark. Gingrich countered by questioning why Matthews assumed that he was referring to African Americans. I retired from teaching a few years ago. It became evident that many students listened carefully, not for instruction but to jump on a word or expression that could be somehow misconstrued as racist. I used the expression "coal cracker" in discussing differences in regional speech and jargon. This was once a major coal mining area and "coal cracker" was slang for coal miner. For some reason, one girl... B3 e6 endorsed Post

Aug '12 Ohio v No, they haven't And it's not because of obama that a change hasn't been made it's because people are just plain mean and hateful. No one can change the mind of a person that has hate in their hearts. So to expect him to have us all in harmony singing thats what friends are for while holding hands is not realistic.
