'Toy Story' Songwriter Releases 'I'm Dreaming...of a White President'

Randy Newman's satirical song aims to highlight racism and re-elect Obama

He loves to see you smile. He doesn't like short people. And now, he's dreaming of a white president.

All in jest, of course. Longtime songster Randy Newman, famous for his contribution to the Toy Story film franchise, has released the satirical "I'm Dreaming" in support of President Obama's re-election. Supposedly fantasizing about the dream of a white president, the song only half-jokes with its goal of highlighting racism in the US, a problem Newman describes as "the great issue of this country."

Written for an upcoming album, Newman decided to release the track early to coincide with the presidential election. Regarding the implicit target of the song's lyrics – which sarcastically include "I'm dreaming of a white president, just like the ones we've always had" – Newman has referred to Republican Mitt Romney as a man not fit for the, er, White House.

Another ignorant celebrity that still beleives in the hope and change promised, but never delivered four years ago. So if racism against minorities is such a problem these days, then why did we elect a black president? Afterall, racism is the biggest problem in this country, so naturally we would still be electing white people as president. Rather than listening to this stupid old man, why don't you look at this past adminastration and see what we actually got from this guy! This is ridiculous. 47% of the country voted against Obama meaning it 'could' exist for nearly half the country (not saying it does, but it could). That doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist or as you claim, only exists for whites, which is an extremely racist statement. It's obvious that it's still a problem just by your post.

The key is in not to act as if a race does not exist because that's just brushing things under the carpet which is never a good idea. What should be done is embrace the differences. Understand that there are differences and realized that all people hold prejudices. Once you realize that the team can make decisions based upon the real facts and issues. You can weigh whether or not you are holding a prejudice. And if you are you can change your way of thinking. That is if one wanted to be real with themselves.
