Pro-Obama pollsters are rigging the numbers, claim legions of prominent Republicans. How are they pulling it off? They're over-sampling Democrats, according to Republican pollsters.
"Most criticism has focused on the oversampling of pro-Obama constituencies," states a Washington Timeseditorial. "Many polls include more responses from Democrats than Republicans based on turnout in the unrepresentative 2008 election," when Dem turnout was much higher than usual.
But pollsters are not using a "2008 turnout model," claims Nate Cohn at the New Republic – in fact most are not using any turnout model at all: they let respondents speak for themselves about whether they're Republicans or Democrats, says Cohn.
A GOP pollster has now launched UnskewedPolls.com, which gives Romney a 7.8% advantage after changing the proportion of Dems and Republicans in all the major polls. The numbers are changed to match results from an August Rasmussen poll showing 35.4% Republicans and 34% Democrats, according to Business Insider. However, most 2012 polls show Dem affiliation around 6 points above Republican.
Just how far ahead is Obama, per the recent polls? The Real Clear Politics average of all polls gives Obama a 4 point lead over Romney nationally.
Freakin' well put!!!!!!! This race will play out like the 1980 campaign, in which President Jimmy Carter led, in the polls, Ronald Reagan for much of the race until The Great Reagan broke through just before the election. The socialist media will lose another one .
As in the headlines that Romney's campain is in turmoil. Reminds me of monkey's throwing excrement. I will not say anything bad about Obama lest his truther's come for me. I would really dislike if his buddies in the Muslim brotherhood came after me. Sharia law and the UN's new limits on free speech are imminent.
@marine1 They're both in my state, Ohio, today. We have early voting starting next week, plus we are a swing state. So far, Obama's up 8 pts. in Ohio...that will change 10 more times between now and election day...I hope.(:
As is demonstrated by the success of Fox News, Americans have long ago rejected the liberal bias of the traditional media outlets. It's almost reached the point of absurdity. Witness the media's collective yawn over this president's lies regarding the Embassy attack. Had Bush misled the country over the terrorism ties, the liberal media would be foaming at the mouth.
HAHA! thats exactly what they are doing to prop up obama. a candidate nobody wants anymore. One thing I have noticed that tells me the polls are fixed for obama is this. Nobody is complaining about gas the way they did mid term with bush. They wanted someones head, prices came down. Today, same 4 dollar a gallon. No outrage. Why? THEY KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO SIX WEEKS FROM NOW!!!!!!
@CATTLEPROD haha nah I think the country has just grown accustomed to the higher pump prices..It's rose and fell so many times in the last 8 yrs that nothing surprises me unless it goes above 5.50 per gal..other than that it's just the usual beuracratic jargen as to why the prices keep changing..FYI according to analysts when gas prices go down..It means the Economy is going down also.. in fact when this recession was at it's worst is when the gas prices were the lowest in my area ..
@CATTLEPROD presidents don't control oil prices. There was a lot of pressure on gas prices while the republican primaries were going. Turns out to be a losing strategy though. Prices came down for a bit then it all went away. In 6 weeks for the sake of America Obama 10 more democratic senators and 30 in the house and we will be as prosperous as the roaring 90s.
@Souljah we've become accustomed to a lot of things, like our giant inefficient government. Each party have us all blaming the other side, the whole time laughing it up as the steer us off a cliff in their goal for absolute power. Government for the Government!!!
Probably. The scenario dictates that this will be so. What scenario, you ask? Well, the pollsters are getting daily, up-to-the-minute results by hiring only uneducated liberals (easy to do...don't pay much, offer no benefits, and fail to negate 95% of their entitlements) to CONSTANTLY call everyone in America EVERY DAY until the election, and identify hang-ups and refusals as those who are happy with the current administration and will surely vote that way.
If the Media is Pro Bama then I dont see this strategy as a good idea it may have the opposite effect... I tend to be more passionate about Voting when I think my nominee is losing.i.e. "If my guy is behind in the polls, then he absolutely needs my vot to win.".If he's waay ahead in the polls, then he doesnt really need my vote.. I can stay home and enjoy the rest of my day knowing my guy will be President weather I vote or not..
The last few presidential elections showed the polls are generally right and the one behind is ALWAYS the one claiming bias against them in the polls. Romney is behind so the polls are liberal, Kerry was behind so the polls were conservative. Anyone claiming any different isn't being honest with themselves.
A lot of people do not realize that all major polls "weight" the results rather than reporting the raw data. In other words, if they poll 100 people and 53 out of the 100 support Romney, they will reduce that number if more people in their sample were Republicans than in the general population they are trying to survey. While there is a logic to that, the problem is that the polls can add as much weighting as they want - and they do.
Many polling firms have a left-wing bias, but not all. Rasmussen if anything is biased the other way. The best approach is to do what RealClearPolitics does and look at the average of several recent polls and what the trend is over time. Any one poll can be quite wrong, but if a number of polls average over time show voters moving in one direction, that's unlikely to be inaccurate.
This sort of reminds me of the 2006 midterms. Polls kept projecting significant democratic gains in the House. Karl Rove was so perplexed by the "biased" polling he made plans to convene a study group after the "permanent Republican majority" was ensconced to figure out how the pollsters had gotten it all so wrong.
And after Election Day the Democrats had taken the House and Nancy Pelosi was the first woman Speaker of the House.
@EquinsuOcha no one party's policies are responsible for the economy tanking. That took more than a decade of bank deregulating, starting with Clinton signing the bill to repeal the Glass-Steagal Act. Liberals and conservatives need to stop fixing the blame on each other, and concentrate on fixing the problem.
Why not, the media is. I don't care for either candidate, yet from what I've seen the media loves to bash Romney for every step he takes, while Obama is clearly the poster child for most media outlets. We hear about Romney's 47% comment, we hear about his airplane windows should open joke, etc., etc. Nobody seems to mention Obama stating in an interview the other day that he cannot cannot fix Washington from the inside. Just saying.
