Fox News 93% Wrong About Climate Change

That's according to scientists from a climate advocacy group

To file under "duh." 93% of Fox News' coverage of global warming is misleading – or outright mocks climate science by calling it a "hoax and fraud."

That's according to a study from the nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS). Researchers waded through six months of Fox primetime shows, and found that of 40 mentions of climate change, only 3 were accurate – including a segment from Bill O'Reilly, and remarks by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA).

    "Global Warming" is and always has been a lie perpetrated by folks with an anti-business, anti-Capitalism and anti-American agenda.

    It's been debunked to the point of being a punch line.

    In fact, I'm laughing right now.:-)

    @AceLuby Here’s all you need to know:

    At one time, glaciers covered North America. Those glaciers melted because the earth warmed, and it was long before anyone bought an SUV or started using coal in power plants.

    Moreover, these wild ‘global warming’ claims are made by the same ‘scientists’ that have changed their collective mind dozens of times on millions of subjects as new information was discovered. Only on this subject do some say that it has been ‘settled,’ meaning nothing more can ever possibly be learned.

    When ‘science’ can tell me with more than a little certainty whether or not it will rain tomorrow will I give any credence whatsoever to the wild ‘global warming’ claims.

    Bank on it.

    @2ndcharm There is actual debate there, the problem is that we cannot have that debate when there is a large portion of people like @Jeff_Woehrle who simply ignore the issue and say it isn't happening.

    @AceLuby Scientists are not in complete agreement at all. Just this week there was another news story about NASA cooking the books, even to the point of changing data from five centuries ago. Scientists have uncovered fraudulent data from IPCC. The real science show the globe is cooling and has been since 1998. There is no consensus

    Al Gore preached it hard but NOBODY would listen even when he had the facts dead to rights! I suppose some of you are like the man that fell off the empire state building that refused to believe he was falling even when he saw the groound coming up fast! When he went 'splat' it proved it to him.

    According to the report, if an alternate point of view is aired next to a "certified" point of view, this gets listed as misleading (and what news show do you watch?). Don't know about you, but I would take this as a hit piece. Still reading the report though.

    Guest on Fox News calls "The green energy stuff..." a fraud. These is easily an arguable point. Everyone driving a Prius won't fix the economy one iota.

    The report takes issue with cherry picking the data (which it should). However, cherry picking the data is something many publications supporting aggressive environmental actions also do (thats why global temperature rises are shown beginning around 1970).

    @DerivePI Actually those those who drive a prius are contributing more to global warming than those who drive normal cars. Water vapor traps alot more heat than Co2.

    The "certified" scientists believe that the temperature of the earth will rise from 2 to 6 deg C. James Hansen (maligned by Fox News commentator) made the mistake of publishing his predictions in 1988. http://www.appinsys.com/GlobalWarming/Hansens...

    I'm not a "certified" scientist so I'm probably 93% wrong about this stuff too, but in 1988 James Hansen was 100% wrong.

    Fox News isn't journalism, so I wouldn't expect anything less than right wing propaganda and lies being spewed from them. What I find funny is that their viewers watch this Republican controlled news station and pretend that Republicans aren't in government. Government is controlling your news while you cry about big government. Irony!

    @TeamAmerica The UCS is a small subset (with lots of money) of the vast majority of scientists that agree with the consensus. I'm assuming that you also don't listen to the dissenting scientists who are employed by Exxon Mobile for the same reasons.

    One type of misleading statement concerned the alleged cooling trend discovered in the 1970s. A Fox anchor said, "I thought we were getting warmer. But in the '70s, it was, look out, we're all going to freeze." However, the study claims that "a greater number of papers, which represented consensus in the science community, in the 1970s predicted warming," not cooling.

    Maybe but it's the Newsweek article that got the most play. More people were discussing that than global warming.

    As for the 97% claim, from the Union of Concerned Scientists report:

    Given News Corp.’s public environmental commitments and the extremely broad reach of these media outlets, this analysis focuses on representations of climate change across many primetime programs on Fox News Channel, and particularly at such representations in the opinion section of the Wall Street Journal.

    I'll point out that Fox's entire prime time lineup is all opinion shows.
    IOW this article is an opinion on many opinions.

    As for my opinion, the less we alter our environment the better.

    Spoken like someone who's never watched any Fox news program. If you wish to open your eyes, watch any Fox program then read the account posted on sites like Newshounds. You'll experience political hackery at it's worst.

    Global Warming is a worldwide scam thrown out around the world by Al Gore and others of like mind. I would have listened more had they not created "carbon credits." That was the magic scam phrase for me. These bullshit artists made piles of money from the do-gooders of the world and those who were too quick to jump on the band wagon without doing due dilligance. And, the amount of taxpayer dollars they ended up with is scary.

    all those bigwigs talking climate control proved how they see it by the limos they rented to ride around in at the climate summit.
    when all these folks do not practice what they preach it kind of down plays anything they have to say. shows more they are making money off their hustle.

    taking money from us and giving it to others does not help the climate.

    Look out your window, do you see a glacier?

    If not then perhaps climate change has been going on for a a few million years?

    The maps that the scientist have created over the years are available to see all of the models for the different periods that they have projected in their ever increasing guesses about what and when , take a look at what they produced and then try to figure out what the hell has been causing the Ice caps to retract for those millions of years?

    it certainly wasn't man or mans inventions that were doing it.

    There own science proves the global warming claim is phony, I mean it proves it if they believe their own work and own conclusions and what they told everyone happened and when in previous science?

    I do not watch Fox News. but I do know the climate change debate has become to politicized to take either side seriously anymore. I absolutely believe and advocate to others that man has nothing to do with global weather and temperature patterns. this debate is about a means to an end: the left wants to redistribute wealth through alternate energy policies and carbon taxes - so the more people believing in man made global warming is beneficial to them. The republicans want to redistribute the wealth they already have from the industries Democrats want to dismantle - so they hope people will not believe in global warming.

    cyclical, and everyone who has studied weather patterns knows it!
