Romney is trying to extort the people by saying that the GOP will vote to raise the debt ceiling under him but will stonewall and try to crater the economy if Obama wins. He has basically admitted that the GOP has tried to hurt the country in order to damage politically so far and will continue to do so in Obama's second term.

If the Republicans were so obstructive, how did we get Obama care and the stimulus package? Oh yeah, don't forget the czars and the executive orders.

It's been since the midterms when the country voted to stop the nonsense that is the Obama presidency.
  • !
    @Thunderchicken
Obama care didn't need Republican support, blue dog Democrats caused it to be less than it could have been.
Only 3 Republicans in the Senate voted for the stimulus package.

@Enlightened Oh there is no paper better than the New York Times. It is 100% unbiased. You win. Have a nice day :)
  • !
    @Chank

That's not what I asked. Find me a better one.

And the NYT represents the opinions of New York quite well.

Good day, and gave fun with the Sun...lol

Politics aheres t the laws of physics. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. What would motivate Harry Reid to act differently than Mitch McConnell should Romney. Reid wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't do everything in his power to make Romnea one term president. Turnabout is fair play

I think Obama can get even more done in his next term. We all know the tea party has attempted to block any helpfull legislation the president has tried ton pass. It is they who are responsible for the slow recovery of the economy.Vote them out at the first opportunity. They are totaly conterproductive, if you must hold the democratic process hostage with a filibuster you never had a valid argumnt to begin with.
  • !
Agreed, Dot, but the very essence of a second term is that Obama can stop worrying so much about keeping his job and actually do his job. The POTUS is the proverbial "400 lb gorilla" (and no I don't mean anything racist by that) in any room in the world, including the Capitol, but Obama has been pussyfooting around both House and Senate for the last four years. In a second term, the view from congress is all uphill towards the White House.
  • !
Yea obama will get alot done by ruining the united states! He just keeps bringing us further down. Soon will be the 3rd power.
  • !
@Jmb Not in this universe, the entire world favors a second term for POTUS 44 and that is well beyond the confidence given to Bush 43 and significantly less than Mittens. Putting a Millionaire businessman in the W.H. is like putting a pedophile in charge of an orphanage.

Yeah, so? When he tried, what happened? They, the republicans, opposed him at every turn. Instead of putting the American people back to work, they said: since it's not our food, we might as well spoil it. We can't eat it, no one else can.

@Oliver1 Obama has done everything to make it harder for jobs to be created. Republicans stood in the way of Obama's economic illiteracy causing more damage.

Any idea how many jobs were created with Obama's first almost 1 trillion dollar stimulus? Borrowing and spending is all Obama knows how to do and it is all he proposed for creating jobs.

Obama doesn't understand how jobs are created and his proposals were opposed by republicans for good reason.

@DominicSarno And the republicans do? So how the hell did we get in into an economic disaster in 2008? Explain plz. How did we get into the worst recession since the Great Depression? Tell me, I'd like to know.

Second term Presidents have a fundamentally different relationship with Congress. Having been re-elected they are in a very good position to let the minority party know they're talking uphill to the White House.

Assuming a Romney win, he will have no such elevation and is likely to find himself repeating many of the same scenarios Mr. Obama did while coping with an oppositional Senate.

What? Time after time the dems have put forward offensive bills and propositions knowing good and well that the right wouldn't agree to it. Putting forward a bill to help the economy is one thing. The riders attached to said bills are another. Not a single member of the house or senate voted to approve Obama's one and only attempt at a budget. What is the #1 benefit to not passing a budget? You don't have to say exactly what you are spending your money on. Whether it is a lib or cons. it's the same tactic. Put something forward that looks legitimate at face value, not outlining the details, and cry foul when the other side won't agree to it. I don't see how it would be any different than the Right suggesting a budget with a hidden clause that would outlaw abortion. And then crying that the libs wanna crash the economy.
  • !
@Calfkiller Mr Obama has, as the Constitution requires, submitted a budget each year for the past three years. In January, win or lose, he'll be able to submit his fourth.

What Congress, particularly the GOP-controlled House, chooses to do is a separate question.
  • !
@DARSB That is false and you know it. I'm learning to be civil and respect the other sides point of view. But to say that Obama has proposed a budget every year is not based in reality. Ignoring anything your side does and projecting it onto the other side is not advancing your agenda or disproving the other sides. It is simply perpetuating the problem.
  • !
@Calfkiller Please refer to the bottom 4 rows of the chart on the Appropriations Committee's web page. It details the dates of submission for the Obama budgets (like others, I don't count 2009 as an Obama budget since it was written during the Bush years).

I will say again for the umpteenth time on other sites, what kind of human being, politician, or political candidate would use fear mongering and terror to get elected? It is amoral, unethical, and down right nauseating. This is not a man who cares about the middle class workers, it is a man who will sink as low as he has to get elected and I DO NOT someone like this running this country. It is Obama for me, especially after what hypocrite Mitt has done over this past week.
  • !
maybe who isn't trying to give the country away. now if we can get congress to stop all immigration until there is a proven need with facts and not just words the jobs will go to citizens where they are supposed to go in the first place.
  • !
@Denizen_Kate i have helped harvest quite a few crops as has millions more just like me. i work in heavy construction after those folks ruint the housing trade by driving wages down to 20 year lows. which all know when you have more workers than jobs that is what happens.

farmers do not need cheap labor if it can be called that,by the time you add in all the other costs to us all that labor is not cheap. it is all a lie from the lib media. did you know that less the 5% of illegal aliens work in the fields, the rest are legal or citizens.

There is a good chance there will be fewer Republicans and more Democrats in Congress after the re-election of Obama. Since the GOP put us in this situation to begin with in order to stonewall the President, perhaps new Dems working with the Prez can turn this around for the better.

Romney offers better policies. I love the ; "Veers close to protection "racket" politics". LOL...This, coming from
a Liberal Economist supporting Obama, a Community Organizer from Chicago, known for having the dirtiest
politics and thugs in the country! Gotta love that.
  • !
    Romney is right!
If Obama is re-elected we certainly will have another debt ceiling disaster just like what happened in 2011.
Unlike Obama, Romney and Ryan have a grasp on dollars, and numbers, and have a budget plan.
Obama hasnt had a budget since taking office.
While Obama just wants to spend more money, hoping that throwing more money at the problem will fix it. It just hasnt worked, and it wont.
Even Joe Biden claims that the best way to get out of debt is to spend more money!
What ever happened to Obama's promise to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term?
Like Obama said back in 2008,......it's time for change!
    Romney / Ryan 2012!

This would depend on whether or not our House is working for the American people or solely for the Republican Party and their lobbyist! What kind of remark/threat is this; coming from an individual who thinks that he is the right person to be President/ leader of our GREAT United States of American protecting our country of individual citizens not just the views of HIS Party (team).

The U S needs a Leader for each/all of our citizens/country not, an individual who is relaying that their feeling is that of one playing in some type of competitive game for a mantle trophy; and not the welfare/safety, freedom and human rights of each citizen of OUR country as well as strong influence on all people of the free world.

@Dotjones Two eyes, don't males have eyes? I think Governor Romney is an attractive man, so? I also think he is very kind, bright, giving, and professional to name a few attributes! He is the complete presidential package!

It's fun to see to see Romney desperately grasping for straws in his finale days. How pitifully immature this little man is showing himself to be. The republicans have tried every dirty trick they could think of to win this election. The only thing left for them is voter fraud. Which, I'm more than sure they will desperately try next. Power to the will of the great people of this nation. Four More Years!!
  • !
This man leaves me speechless, he wants to win so badly that he will promise, say, or do anything. Surely you all have encountered people like this in your life and no what absolute disasters they turn out to be.
  • !
Romney sounds like he's threatening us. Vote for him or else face even more gridlock in the House and Senate. I don't like being threatened.

But to answer your question honestly, Politix, I would say that Romney would face less opposition from congress, because IMO Democrats are not historically as fanatical in their obstructionism as is the GOP, despite what Reid recently threatened.
