Call in Mayor Bloomberg to ban anything that tastes good. I would guess the only thing Ryan and Obama have in common is just about zero body fat
  • !
They need to mind their own damned business. It's the parents' job to raise their own kids, not obama's or anyone else's. Hamburgers and hot dogs are not necessarily unhealthy. He's clearly in good shape and good health.

I think once a politician has the mandatory corndog-eating-at-the-Iowa-Sta te-Fair picture taken we can safely ignore their dietary habits thereafter.(Except for Michele Bachmann. Her corndog pics are hilarious.)

but corn dogs sort of suck.

we eat quite often at a burger restaurant where the small burger is 1/3# after cooking. you can get them with any sort of topping that you want from fried inions and blue cheese, to fresh mushrooms and swiss cheese, to bacon and cheddar. they come with cheese fries, buffalo style chicken wings and deep fried onion rings.

they do have mini corndogs, but usually after people try it once they say,'please bring the real food now.'

    really good stuff.

@mimi57 we eat that, too. last weekend i made about 8 kilos of lasagna a bolanhesa for 8 people... and it was gone. my spaghetti and meatballs is also internationally acclaimed. oh... i also make a killer macaroni with oil and garlic and serve it with a really nice eggplant Parmesan.

my wife eats very little chicken but lots of fish and seafood. beef and pork are very high on her list, also... especially good beef with a good rind of fat on it.

cracklin is one of her favorite snacks, too.

LOL...don't go to Chris Christie's I'm sure they're telling him! Oh, and BTW...There were four men killed in Benghazi and one was our Ambassador and Obama went to Vegas to campaign, remember that?! What's
being done? Did they catch those who were responsible yet? Curious?...

my wife and kids and i eat exactly like that at least once a week... other days we have 5 cheese or pepperoni pizza, then about once a month we go to a bar-b-cue restaurant for the all you can eat beef. in these restaurants the waiters continually circuit the tables bringing a wide variety of charcoal broiled beef cuts, pork, chicken, and sausages on spits so you can choose what you want as well as tasty cheese breads, garlic breads, french fried potatoes, and polenta. they also have an all you can eat japanese food and salad bar. on other days we may be found in japanese restaurants downing copious amounts of soups, stews, sushi and sashami... so what?

No and I for one am really tired of the Nanny State getting between me and what's on my plate. Now Nanny Bloomberg has forbidden any donations of food to the poor and starving because he has no one in place to make sure they don't have too much sodium and fat. Right Mr. Mayor, much better to let them starve for lack of an approved meal by the Nanny Mayor. Personally, I think Bloomberg has slipped over to an alternative universe.

He's different than most Americans in that he doesn't weigh a ton, doesn't have Type II Diabetes, and Blood Pressure through the roof.
He quit smoking, so he delayed that heart attack a bit.

    @Fishbone345
i'm 5'11" and, while i don't weigh a ton, i do weigh around 300# my blood pressure is low normal, my sugar is borderline, my cholesterol is extremely low... and even though i began smoking at around age 8 and smoked for almost 50 years before i finally quit 7 years ago, my lungs are clear and my heart shows no trace of any damage from it. in fact my doctor called me a liar about it when he was looking at the nuclear heart exam and stress test results, as well as the x-rays and ultrasounds of my lungs and chest cavity. he said that it's impossible for me to have smoked for all those years, and in fact, it looks as though i had never smoked at all. then he asked me if i'd like to trade hearts with him. he's not quite 50 and has never smoked in his life, but my exams came back better than his do.

    so, what're you gonna do?
  • !
@dances-weebles You may not weigh an actual ton, but you realize that 300+ is overweight for 5'11" yah?
My comment is based on this mindset. People complain about the First Lady trying to get kids to eat healthy. The SAME people who complain about healthcare. Where do they think most healthcare dollars are going these days? Our population is overweight and unhealthy, these things have direct impact on general health, more than just the heart. I know its a revelation that's absolute heresy.
    I will say no more.

@Fishbone345 oh, i'm well aware that i'm more than a good bit over weight. i'm not stupid... and i am reminded every time that i try to stand up and my legs don't want to push me up anymore. i'm reminded every time that i pick up my cane to walk, and every time my back aches so badly that i want to cry. i'm reminded of it every time our 7 year old son asks me to go out and have a kick around in the garden with his soccer ball and i have to tell him that i just can't do it any more and every time that i look at, even a short flight of stairs and cringe. we're working on it, though, and we can beat it. i beat malaria once, and i beat cholera. i beat hepatitis, and i beat two broken knees as well as a crushed disk in my lower back. i beat being shot and left for dead during the vietnam war and by golly, i'll beat this, too. in the meantime, if you see me eating a big thick hamburger and cheesy french fries, please just leave me alone to enjoy it... i think that i've earned the right to eat what i like and what i want and the rest of the world can get shagged.

while we're on the subject of my health, do you want to know the sharpest reminder that i've ever had that i'm fat and that i've been rode hard and put away wet, though? well, here's an honest to god true story...

we were at the ocean one day and i was wading in the water about up to my knees watching the children play in the surf. a good sized wave was coming, and without thinking i dove under it like i always used to do... then couldn't regain my balance to get my feet under me. i hadn't reached the point of panic yet, but as the surf spun me around i saw my 10 year old daughter, face white with fear, charging through the waves toward me screaming,'are you alright?'
'i'm fine', i tried to shout through yet another mouthful of salt water, but she said,'no... you're not' and as she ran up to me she grabbed me by the arms to steady me while i got my feet under me.
i then trudged back up onto the sand and sat on my lawn chair under my parasol like an old fat man and wept... not only for my treacherous body that had let me down yet again, but for the love of my sweet daughter, who beyond all reason, ran to save someone more than 6 times her weight... someone she loves.

as maurice chevalier said in his song...'thank heaven for little girls'

@dances-weebles I'm not judging you brother. I'm a Libertarian, and I fully believe that the law shouldn't oppress people's lives. Not just when it fits my belief's. ALWAYS. Something a lot of the Small Government pinheads in the GOP don't fully understand.
Eat what you want. I'm fine with it. And I didn't mean to make you feel bad about your weight, for that I'm sorry. My point, which was lost likely because I ramble, was that the people who are talking about eating more healthy are just as concerned about uninsured American's and their health. They are just going at tackling the problem from a different standpoint than "F$%k em, if they can't afford it, they die". Because while its true that we treat everyone that comes through hospital doors regardless of payment ability, we also bill them. Hospitals aren't eating those costs like moronic people on the Right seem to believe. These people are billed, and billed again, and then billed again for good measure. So much to the point they eventually lose homes and end up living with their children. This is reality. Not some utopian wet dream.
As for your story about your daughter. That is absolutely precious. There is no love like that of our children's. I'm jealous, I wish I had a daughter. ;)
