Romney Camp: We Lost Florida

Romney has conceded Florida, via a statement from his FL advisor Brett Doster. "We thought based on our polling and range of organization that we had done what we needed to win," Doster told reporters this afternoon. "Obviously, we didn't, and for that I and every other operative in Florida has a sick feeling that we left something on the table. I can assure you this won't happen again."

Obama's win in Florida gives him a total of 332 electoral college votes to Mitt Romney's 206. (In 2008, the POTUS beat John McCain by a bigger margin, 365-173.)

    I have lived in Florida for 42 of my 46 years, and Florida is confederacy by history and location only. You know the saying in Florida, "the further north you go in Florida, the more in the south you are."
    Lol... And really it's more like north and to the west if you wanna find the south down here these days.

    @GOBAMA2012 funny, that's exactly the level of intelligence I've come to expect from anyone singing the praises of b. Hussein. even when I see a car with that bumper sticker on it, I immediately change lanes, because I know the driver of that car is clueless

    Although this is great news for the country it probably means I won't win the $100 Politix contest. I got every other state right but thought that Florida would go republican due to that crooked ex-ceo BatBoy look-alike Rick Scott's voter suppression attempts.

    I probably would of chose democrat for florida because of Romney's plan to kill off medicare. Lots of old people in Florida that depend on medicare to survive.

Between 2040 and 2060 whites will become a minority in America, unless there is something done to encourage white people to have more kids. Any type of plan proposed would be met with racist remarks from minorities, of course. Nothing wrong with whites going extinct from their perspective, I guess. But aside from race, how do you convince people whom are not producers and want gimmedats to vote Republican. Changing demographics are going to kill the GOP, not their message, which I mostly agree with. I think demanding the GOP to change their values is a valid option. Are you going to get an old white guy to like the fact his white daughter marries a black man or accept gay marriage in America? I got bad news, it ain't happening. Moving to fiscal GOP policy. Suppose tomorrow the GOP accepts all social polices the Dems support, such as gay marriage, abortion as birth control, etc. Should they be forced to end their message of supporting small business and low taxes? I agree with that position but the takers whom pay no taxes and don't have businesses will not. So my question is as more white people die, the GOP becomes more and more irrelevant? Does the end of white majority in America mean the end of the GOP, and if so, who represents the white population?

    The Libertarians already exist. They are pretty much in line with what you are proposing. As to representing a good portion of white people I think that the dems do a pretty good job of it already. If you insist on this "white=producer/minority= taker" mentality then the KKK pretty much fills the bill.

    @PNWest I never said the whites were the only producers. In fact, last night I clearly pointed out who the producers were. On your libertarian comment, I can agree somewhat, but some of their policies are just as bad as the democrats. They essentially support the planned parenthood abortion factory outlet and going even farther wanting to erase borders. I happen to like locks on doors, to an extent. I keep asking the question about the one-party Democratic party state and lack of representation for those whom are not democrats, because that is the future of America. This may come as a bit of shock to many, but not all blacks are Democrats. Many are Republicans, whom are tired of the supporting the takers. Who will represent them?

    @DARSB That's not the point. In fact, you just raised a tougher question. America is a Democracy were the minorities are NOT protected. If the US were still a Republic minorities would be. In order to be protected and effectively represented, you and yours must be the majority. At this time, the underclass non-producers are effective now the majority in this country. They will demand their leaders, whom are in office, create laws to make sure they continue to receive gimmedats and obamaphones., regardless of how its paid for. Now who will represent the producer class if the GOP goes under? Forget white, black, hispanic, whatever. What happens when the people who keep your country's lights on have zero representation in government? Or worse...oppressed by the govt? How long do you think that country will continue to function?

    There should be no representing white, black, Latino, etc. The government should be representing America. This whole election was based on race by many people. A lot of republicans hate Romney in the GOP primaries but they voted for him based on his skin color. This should not be about race, but be about who is better for America. We live in a new time where Gays, interracial couples, and all races are treated as humans. Most republican voter's children DO NOT SEE RACE. The GOP is the party that think we shouldn't help the poor. How do they call theirselves CHRISTIAN when all Jesus did was help the poor.(Note: I do not believe in religion). So I guess Jesus was a socialist... Right? The GOP are the most hateful, predijuce and geediest people in this country. What a bunch of hypocrites

    People will vote for whatever party they believe will best represent their interests. Hopefully the people in the south and midwest will realize that the GOP never has. The dems have their flaws but they are far better for most people in this country than the reps. You are very right that the changing demographics of this country are decimating the current GOP. Evolve or go extinct. Darwin baby. Survival of the fittest.

    I actually wish that your statement was true PN, but I know many many Republicans who would vote for a rock if it were on the ballot. It has nothing to do with their best interests. "My daddy voted Republican, and his daddy before him and I will too" is what I hear so much of the time. I am unfortunately in the middle of a Red state here in TN and I hear it all the time. I have voted back and forth over the years for the candidate I believed was the best person for the job. I wish other people would do the same is all I'm asking.: > )

    I disagree. There were alot people on both sides that didn't like either candidate.
    The American Electorate, put 2012 voter turnout at 57.5% of all eligible voters.

    I know, right. And to top it off Him and his running mate lost to Obama in their own home states. People are tired of all of these good ole boys and their banker and oil friends not to mention their buddies in China. Get in bed with China and you are done.

    It seems to me the GOP lost due to demographics and a better (DEM) ground-game.

    True, the GOP can improve their tactics, but will have to re-identify themselves to get ahead of the demographics.

    Question: After decade(s) of loudly claiming the socially moral high-ground, how does to GOP change their identity without (a) losing the far-right; and (b) not sounding like a bunch of hypocrites.

    I care, not because I'm a Repulican - I'm not. However, I believe in multi-party system because, like Darwinism, it produces the best outcome. We need functional (and loyal) opposition.

    Your thoughts?

    It seems, to me, that the GOP's biggest problems this election were the extreme right wingers, the Christian right, and the Tea Party. The stridency heard from those quarters was annoying at the best of times and hate-filled at the worst, and I know more than a few old-style conservatives and centrists who were very turned off by that rhetoric. The rancorous rants from pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Sarah Palin, putting the blame for absolutely everything they could dream up on Obama, got old really fast. There was far too much repetitiveness and too little original thought coming from the far right. IMO, the Republican party needs to distance itself from the rhetoric of "my way or the highway" and return to their fiscally conservative "small federal government" roots.

    GOP tone was self defeating. I don't think they hate women, and because they don't they were tone deaf to their own message. Ditto Hispanics. I guess there is hubris at work.

    Social policy that is Puritanical rather than classical conservatism; and blurry and poorly communicated economics. What a waste.
