Christie told reporters yesterday that he told President Obama "congratulations" on his win over the phone. As for Mitt Romney - he had to make do with an email from the NJ governor. "We exchanged e-mails last night," said Christie. "We haven't spoken on the phone yet."
Having fended off charges that he helped Romney lose by "embracing" Obama, it's perhaps surprising that Christie was happy to reveal all about the phonecall-to-Barack vs. email-to-Mitt. But in Christie's defense, he's been speaking to Obama daily about relief for hurricane-torn New Jersey, so it was only natural for him to say congrats during their call.
Christie is aiming for 2016. He carries a lot of weight with GOP moderates who will be trying to bring sanity back to the party. He's pretty popular right now and a fierce campaigner. Watch out Tea Partiers. He's gonna eat you alive.
Well, isn't that surprising... another Arlen Spector, however I don' think Mr. Spector was quite as deceitful. He should just run as a Liberal now, I doubt he'll get voted in either way. Once a turn coat always a turn coat. Probably too embarrassed to talk to Romney. Sooo glad he's in New Jersey!
THIS is why the GOP is losing ground. If you don't tow the party line 100% in the way that Fox tells you to tow it you aren't welcome and you're 'liberal'. You guys won't win another presidential election when the puppet masters tell you to think like this.
@AceLuby - You may be correct that the GOP is losing ground. But I think you better not underestimate them. They are formidable adversaries. They do not give up. I have to respect them for their tenacity. What I cannot stand (the Democrats were not above this either back in the day) - What I cannot stand are the sleazy tricks used by the GOP. Gerrymandering, rigging the voting process to favor a lower voter turnout , and the constant onslaught of flat out lies their rank and file suck up without question. And as I said, the Democrats at one time were just as bad. There is no high road for either, it is just right now the Democrats are trying to take it. This notion that being noble and offering the GOP an olive branch will fail. This is a street fight. They better keep their foot on the GOPs throat while they can. Because the GOP is playing for keeps and will show no such mercy if they get the upper hand. The time has come to force the GOP to make a decision about who they really represent. And the only way we can do it is not just beating them at the polls, but more importantly taking them on a the local level and reclaiming the Statehouses. They only want bipartisanship if they can be the ones who drive the bus.
Shhhh...don't say anything about the Benghazi cover up, the one where our Ambassador died and three other heroes were incinerated...shhh.., we wouldn't want the liberal press to find out about that, a certain someone may have to have some accountability and we wouldn't want to pee in his Cornflakes, I mean with him all giddy over the election and all!
@GetAwake LOl. I try, I can only access my Politix messages by email. My avatar is down, I've tried to get through to someone there to change it, but can't get results and don't know who else to contact, do you? I'm on my desk top at work, but my Notebook and I Phone are both affected. Don't know who to contact...
@mimi57 - here is why there is a coverup. You can't come out to the public and say the consulate is run by the CIA. That would be a big no no in diplomatic relations with foreign countries. http://m.upi.com/story/UPI-44771351839600/
Romney: "WTF Chris?!?" Christy: "You passed me over for Veep, Mitt. What did you really expect?" Romney: "You came out and said publicly that you WOULDN'T ACCEPT the job!!" Christy: "And you bought that, man? I'm a f'n politician. Just because I say something out loud doesn't mean that I stand behind it. THAT'S WHAT WE DO. WE LIE. C'mon, man..."
We've just spent what.. 8 to 10 months of telling us what is wrong and who's to blame for this mess we're in. We all know what is coming too. It's time for them to roll up their shirtsleeves and work on the problem else there may not be much left to run for the next time.
Christie's a smart man. Cozy up to the POTUS, regardless of his party, so that you can get the best deal for your state, and at the same time look good to moderates, whom you know you will need for a future White House run. Very smart.
LOL....Look Gov. Christie has much more important things to do than to worry about offending the "loser" in this race, and/or the rust lamebo crowd. I mean, why should he waste a phone call on mitt---just to listen to him complain about "hurricane Sandy" and how it costs him the election"...He needs to focus on the people in his state, and what needs to be done to get them back on track. So talking to the President of The US...(and winner) is the best use of his time right now...If it will make him feel better I'll give mitt a call....when I get some spare time...LOL
Why is it so taboo for Republicans to be on good, or at least cordial, terms with Democrats or Independents!? Maybe Christie realizes that at least Obama is sincere in being the President of ALL the people, not just the uber wealthy. Christie has to preside over a devastated state, not a Wall Street cocktail party. Romney has just become a has been. He failed the 1% and has already been banished from any further political participation. Wall Street will groom a new puppet, now. Christie still has aspirations, still. Perhaps he will join the ranks of the younger, smarter, more progressive Republicans earning up in the ball pen. Frankly, I'm almost giddy about the young Republicans still in school and learning, hopefully, from their elders' stupidity.
