And you thought the Petreaus
saga was complicated.
The Daily Caller informs us that the progressive little bastion known as Austin, Texas wants to secede from its host state should the Lone Star State be allowed to break away from the nation at large. An indignant citizen by the name of "Caleb M" has launched a petition to keep Austin independent of the would-be sovereign state of Texas, citing a litany of ills that would be meted upon the city should it be made subject to Texas rule. Among them, a lack of "civil, religious, and political freedoms," which Mr. M says would be best preserved by remaining a part of the US of A.
"It is entirely feasible for Austin to operate as its own state, within the United States," reads the petition, "in the event that Texas is successful in the current bid to secede."
Fortunately for Austin's left-leaning denizens who nonetheless love their home state, right-leaning Governor Rick Perry has
rejected the idea of Texan secession, saying that "nothing should be done" to change "greatness or our union."
