On Monday, Islamist cleric Abu Qatada was released from a high-security British prison, accompanied by much handwringing from the Brits.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron professed himself "fed up" with having the preacher in the country, after the government had spent a decade trying to get him deported. Qatada was released after a court ruled that he couldn't be extradited to Jordan, where he's been convicted of terrorism.

    @CanisCanemEdit Is there any reason the USA couldn't just do a drone strike in London? They don't ask for permission elsewhere.

    @LGRepublican if the Seal Team was deployed to infiltrate foreign soil they would have to get an executive order... Obama would have to sign off on it, therefore making him directly responsible... I think you guys are funny because if the Seal team mission failed and ended up causing greater international tension you would be quick to give the POTUS responsibility on that.. but since it went well you Deny Obama's Responsibility..hahaha arent you Dizzy from all the Spinning you guys are doing to these days..haha

    What part of "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech." Don't we understand. The UK was foolish when they (and Canada) surrendered from such a simple and appropriate freedom.

    The torture in GITMO is not that big a deal. Otherwise, Obama would have done something about it.

    It made the front page of Tuesday’s Washington Post but was buried near the back of the New York Times that day, on page 19:“Obama, in Reversal, Clears Way for Guantanamo Trials to Resume.”

    (NOTE: I don't hate Obama. I voted for him in 2008. Closing GITMO was one of the reasons I voted for him.)

    @Denizen_Kate when he leaves London obviously. if he goes underground which i suspect he will to evade eventual deportation to Jordan.

    I would hope that our govt tries to preserve as many lives as possible.

    On the same logic as the UK Courts used ... He was supspected "....because his sermons advocated violence to overthrow foreign-backed governments in the Middle East. He allegedly also influenced the twentieth 9/11 hijacker, Zacarias Moussaoui, and the shoe bomber Richard Reid."
    Let's see we should deport Donald Trump for sedition, any number of right wing and left wing stalwarts preaching overthrow of the government. There are even people on this siite who have advocated violence to overthrow the government.
    At what point does free speech become a crime???? Didn't Trump advocate "He lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country!" & "We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty."
    Trump has a pulpet and is advocating overthrough but so far all he's guilty of is bad hair

    that's what's coming from Barack Obama.... in a good faith gesture between United States government and the Muslim Brotherhood .

    I thought we had a seal team that would go into countries without permission and murder people we don't like. Is that not what we did to Osama Bin Laden? Shot him in cold blood because they said he had no weapon, was in his house in another country, playing with some kids. So why can't this same team resolve this issue as well.
