Oklahoma's New 10 Commandments Monument Has 2 Typos

...not to mention that it may be unconstitutional

Republican lawmaker Mike Ritze has sparked controversy by erecting a 2,000-lb granite monument to the 10 commandments monument in the grounds of the Oklahoma state capitol.

The monument may exhort correct living, but it's hardly an example of correct orthography, with two words misspelled: "sabbeth" (pictured) and "maidseruants."

The spelling errors are "a simple fix," Ritze told The Oklahoman. The ACLU lawsuit the monument invites would be less straightforward.

The ACLU hasn't committed to a lawsuit, but there's precedent, on the grounds that Oklahoma has violated the separation of church and state. Earlier in 2012 the group sued Bloomfield, MN for erecting a similar slab outside their city hall. And in 2005, a Supreme Court ruling obliged Kentucky to remove their ten commandments monument.

The Liberty Legal Foundation, who led legal challenges to Obama's US citizenship, has promised to defend Oklahoma against any lawsuits free of charge.

sorry to tell you this, but western oklahoma, se part of kansas, east part of arizona, southern part of colorado, and all of new mexico, used to be part of the republic of texas.

@Fishbone345 well if texas can get, the two thirds majority to leave the union. then they could sue, to have their origional territory returned. which would of course require a 2/3rds majority. and if in fact, 2/3rds of the union, votes to disband the union. then it becomes, the law. and virgina being a commonwealth, could legally withdraw from the union. their error in the civil war, was to join the armed rebellion.

and you did request, texas to take oklahoma with them. so it was within your ignorance of context. and all i did is remind you, they can only legally take part of oklahoma.

Politix is biased. Its not an act. This particular story for instance, I read it on the Blaze, and it focused on the typos. Read this story, and they act like having the 10 commandments on government property is a national crime.

The monument has no business being there, doesn't matter who paid for it. Put it in front of a church, or a private business.

The 10 Commandments are actually 5 commandments since the first 5 are religious BS. So they have no place on public land, unless they are reworded into non-religious instructions such as, " Don't lie, don't steal, don't murder, don't cheat on your wife, get over your jealousy, and as long as you live in your parents' house you show them respect."

Placing them on a public building is up to the people of OK. Like it or not most American law comes from English law, which is based on Mosaic Law; the history traces straight to the Ten Commandments. The only exception I know of is Louisiana, those crazy Cajun laws are based on the Napoleonic Code. Zydeco anyone?

Easter and Xmas are the only two with religious under tones the rest are government holidays. Easter is about hunting rabbit eggs with my kids and then eating till we are sick.
