It looks like the gig is up for Allen West. A recount of early ballots showed him falling further behind his Democratic opponent, The Palm Beach Post reports.

Democrat Patrick Murphy, a 29-year-old construction company executive, on Sunday gained 242 votes after the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections completed its re-tabulation, increasing his lead to more than 2,100 votes over West, a tea party hero. Murphy's lead is just outside the 0.5 percent margin that would trigger an automatic district-wide recount under Florida law.

    It is very telling that those on the right would support a person like Allen West. He was drummed out of the military for violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Someone like this does not belong in congress.

    What was the code violation he was thrown out on? In any ecent those on the right would support the military even if the mission were to go into a town and kill it's babies...

    This "character" was redistricted into a GOP plurality district. He spent 17 mil to his opponents 4 mil. Who knows how much outside PACs contributed yet he lost. The fact that St Luci County and Palm Beach County are incapable of running an election should be a total embarassment to the Statenof Florida but one only has to loock to our nitwit governor who says everything came off fine. The man is a graduate of the Tea Bag College for the terminally vague.
    West's problem is that he falls further and further behind each time these half wits at election central try to do a recount. There is no reason to believe they will come up with any different tally (or the same tally twice) that would favor West. I know he's not old, but old soldiers should just fade away

    One is reminded of Al Gore and his repeated demands for the Florida re-counts subject to the "hanging chad" reasoning. Did him no good. Just as it did Mr. West no good.

    However, "Sore loser"? I guess both parties would be guilty from time to time.

    West was a casualty in the San Francisco based CREDO's war on Tea Party candidates and their supporters in Congress. We were lucky in my district, PA 8th, that they failed, miserably, to unseat Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick with a candidate that had ties to convicted Philly cop killer, Mumia Abu Jamal.

    I hope Allen West doesn't go away. He should run again in 2014.

    @methinks Hats off to the conquering hero's at CREDO, holding the fray against the tide of Tea Party hypocrisy, and continued self delusion. Thank goodness they took the time and resources (I chipped in many times) to unmask this frightening, totally self-absorbed bully.

    @methinks The Tea Party is going to go the way of the No Nothing Party it so much resembles. In the beginning, it's call for financial responsibility was appealing. But that quickly degenerated into stubborn obstructionism and extremism. That's unsustainable.

    @Zazziness What else is unsustainable is financing over 40 cents for every dollar the federal government spends. What we are doing to future generations is immoral.

    funny they didn't have enough time to recount.... so by default they give the election to the Democrat. seems to me they didn't want to find out what those machines were doing.

    @Keyjo the fact that the recount was not finished makes this a whole lot different then the exhaustive recount of 2000

    Sorry, I don't see anything about the recount being incomplete. Only that the recent recount places West even further behind. Where did you read that it's "incomplete?"

    @Keyjo And we heard the liberals whine that the white folks who opposed Obumble were all racists. So, are folks who oppose West racist or not? Or is that just reserved for black democrats? Well? What is it?

    Just like we heard "some Conservatives" claim Obama is Muslim and not a citizen. Not everyone in either camp is narrow and ignorant.

    @Keyjo Just so we're clear: Those who oppose Allen West are NOT racists, but those who oppose Obumble ARE racists. Funny how things work out.

    That's not even remotely what I said, though I'm quite sure that in both candidates' cases, some racism played a part. Bigotry is NOT exclusive to either party.

    Oh, dear dog - another failed conservative office holder with little relevance and even less grace. Soon he'll join Sarah Palin in the Niche Crackpot Club, get a regular media gig with Fox or talk radio, and continue to represent the very craziest hard right positions.

    On the other hand, his political demise is further evidence of the disintegration of the Teapartistas who peaked in the 2010 midterms.

    @DARSB - You're saying he was an extravagant spender? What evidence do you have? He has a voting record that is pretty tight on spending. That's what we need in Congress, now more than ever.

    More hypocrisy from the left. Where are the cries of racism now? Seems everyone voted for a white company executive. I thought rich white guys were the reason there are no jobs and no healthcare and blah, blah, blah.
