May 8 Glich v No If Republicans help raise taxes - vote them out. If Dem's insist on tax funded entitlements - vote them out. 11 million unemployed Americans - 12 million illegals - $6 trillion to bring in aliens or $6 trillion to create American jobs ? ? ? Post
u May 8 LibertyWolf v No I say no not because I like entitlements. I'd like to see them all go away. I say no because They need to cut entitlements and taxes. Kind of a loaded question... Post
May 8 Prime_Meridian v No I don't like either choice. I say why take benefits away from the elderly, disabled, etc. when so much is being misspent in defense budgets and plain waste. Take the Tank Debacle that Politix feature recently here. Congress wants to force tanks that will soon be obsolete down the US Army's throats. What the hell is that all about? Cutting back on expenses like this; on travel junkets overseas; on pork barrel projects; on Imperial Presidential Vacations (whether it's a Democrat or a Republican in Office) on foreign aid; on those $800. hammers and toilet seats, etc. is a much better way to go than reducing Mrs. Jones' social security benefits or raising taxes. An... B1 Post
u May 7 URBS v Yes Two problems with this question. First tax raises should not be offered. Second the Democrats have shown time and again that they will not honor their word when it comes to these type of deals. Post
u May 6 DaQuietOne v No We are entitled to entitlements, you know that pesky Social Security, Medicare, and Unemployment. That is the whole point, we paid for them, we better get them. We did not pay in for 20+ years for CONgress to piss away our money. Social programs for the poor are not entitlements, so maybe we should call them what they really are, welfare, public aid etc.... u May 3 fraps v Yes If the Republican idiots have not learned by now it never works that way. If they had a single working brain cell among them they would promise the tax cuts when they got benefit cuts. Then if they were as smart as Obama, they should tell the Dems, more benefit cuts then we will consider raising taxes! What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Post

o Apr 28 GvtMule v Yes This is a sorry way to ask this question. It up to the dems now to cut spending. They got a tax increase. Now they want more. They can't have more tax increases until they make real spending cuts. The ball is in the democrats court now. That they won't cut spending is why we have the Sesquester. Obama has used every cheap stunt possible to try to blame the republicans but people are not buying it. r1 reply Post
u May 1 CaryNickel I didn't vote simply because I don't believe Republicans should agree to tax increases at all. Budget deficits are ALWAYS caused by overspending. It's called a "budget" because that's all you've got to spend, so you'd better find ways to live with it. B1 Post @CaryNickel
u Apr 26 BossTweed v No Too late. The Repubs kept their end of the deal but Obama just laughed and said he wants MORE and MORE and MORE ....He played the Country for fools. Post
u Dec '12 MissMary v No Absolutely Not. This is not a tit for a tat. The repub's got us in the mess.... The middle/lower are fed up with supporting the elite. "offer" tax raises? They are not in a position to be 'offering' anything. Is that not the height of arrogance? "offer' tax raises? People wake up! Post
u Dec '12 bobrob v Yes It depends on what kind of tax increases are proposed. If it is anything like the plan that Mr. Boehner has proposed, a tax increase on those making over $1,000,000.00, then I think he making a joke, no? In my view a tax on the rich will not do much if anything to reduce the debt . Mr. Boehner is grandstanding because the $1,000,000.00 figure is silly. The President compromised at $400,000.00, and this seems to be more realistic especially to all those who would blame the rich for our current sickly situation. However, don't beat the rich up too badly, because if the Feds overdo it then the rich will stop spending. The boat tax of 10% on any boat sold for $100,000 o... Post

Dec '12 scotta v Yes Republicans better not cave if they like their jobs. They were not sent back to play nice with liberals. Post
Dec '12 CanisCanemEdit v Yes Compromise: An agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions. Anything less is political rape. Post
u Nov '12 Litdes v Yes Of course. This is a no-brainer. Budget neutrality was always going to require BOTH revenue increases and spending cuts. This isn't a difficult equation to understand. B3 e31 endorsed Post
Nov '12 dances-weebles v No keep raising the taxes on the wealthy until they are paying enough that it causes them the same pain that it does the lower classes. after that cut all government waste such as the war industry and corporate welfare, ridiculous foreign wars for no reason other than profits for a few millionaires, cut all bribes including multi-million dollar campaign donations and put that money directly into the budget, end all congressional perks, end lobbying in the form of bribes and gifts and corp bailouts which are then handed over to top level management as pay hikes. but never end programmes which help the citizens. Nov '12 Tralee v Yes Of course, but I doubt they will be real cuts. I have a feeling they will do the same thing they always do, "Promise" to cut this or that and then never do it or proposed cutting some program or so 10 years down the road. Like change the retirement age to 67, in 2023. Right, that'll happen. I hope the R's make them cut something before one penny of higher tax gets paid to them. B2 e1 endorsed Post
Nov '12 harold v Yes If everyone can agree to remove the cap on FICA contributions, then social security will be taken care of. Other entitlement programs should be ranked in reverse order of their necessity, and reduced accordingly. That would mean starting with things like depletion allowances, and some agricultural subsidies. It does not mean slashing huge holes in the national 'safety net'. We will always need medicare, medicaid, and food stamps. r2 replies e3 endorsed Post

Democrats are always wanting to spend spend spend, its what they do best. Obama has put more people on welfare/foodstamps than any POTUS in history. Obama has spent more $$$ Than any POTUS in our history. We as the people Must force our Liberal over spending Government to do reforms. r10 replies e2 endorsed Post
