Mon LEC v Yes But that would actually mean being with people for the holidays and I really don't like holidays. Post
u May 8 LibertyWolf v No No! I HATE politics! I would be happy to talk philosophy and economics though! Post
u May 2 politicteen v No Kay: hey john can you pass the greens? John: yeah sure Kay. Kay: sooo, how you and Mary? Mary: john tell them. John: we're getting married this summer. Kay: great but if Congress don't about face and.... John: um Kay...this the dinner table. Post
May 2 Spirit02 v No Why? To hear whiners cry about how their party has once again proved they are liars and traitors? Post
u May 2 DotsonB v Yes Talking politics is about discussing views and in a democracy willingness to accept both sides and come to an agreement is key. Talking politics is always great. Post
u May 2 BossTweed v Yes It is a great way to hear from people you respect who disagree with your politics. A healthy, respectful debate is ALL GOOD. Post
May 2 MarkJM v Yes Most of my family is liberal (I guess there has to be one intelligent individual among the bunch) whereas I lean towards the independent/libertarian side of things. I don't mind getting into politics, it can get rather entertaining when members of your own family resort to name-calling and bigotry when they lose the rational argument. Most of the time they avoid politics and just focus on the NFL games and getting fat and happy off of turkey and mashed potatoes. Post
Apr 30 Prime_Meridian v No Aren't Thanksgivings, and other major holidays, stressful and conflict-laden enough as they are? lol Post

Apr 26 cat2009 v No In my circle of family they are all Democrats so there would probably be some fighting before the mashed pototoes. Post
u Apr 25 anc713 v No I feel one should just enjoy the good food and football and not ruin it by getting into a political debate which no one wins. Post
Nov '12 choochamy v Yes I have teenagers so whatever they bring up at any point is fair game for discussion. I do not want to ever miss a chance to open their minds. If it is important to them at ANY time, it is important to me. Post
u Nov '12 Everyman v Yes Because when I go to say prayers before we eat, I have to think about the atheists. When I think about the Indians I am reminded of social justice. When I think about the turkey is it "Free Range". I wonder if Walmart will go union on my holiday. Screw the unions in the heart. I know Christmas is coming and there is a big giant war on Christmas. Holidays are becoming a drag thanks to Home Boy and his horde. They used to be fun. Now they are commie and political all the way.. Post
Nov '12 CigarBulldog v Yes I'm happy to talk politics because I use logic and rational arguments, not emotion, so I don't get worked up and angry. Only those that argue based out of emotion get upset. e14 endorsed Post
u Nov '12 seedtick v No Why discuss a bunch of heatherns on a day of thanks? This it the day to thank God for his blessings. I know that some folks think Barack Husssein Obama is some sort of god, but I don't. And the Thanksgiving table is not the venue to sort the rest of them out. B3 e8 endorsed Post
Nov '12 Real4WheelDrv v No Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and political discourse is divisive unless everyone in your family feels the way you do. STUFF the Politix and pass the spuds! r1 reply e10 endorsed Post
Nov '12 WMCOL v It depends Depends on the maturity of the diners. There are several families at my table and there are mostly Democrats but a few Republicans, and even within the individual families there are Republican and Democrat. No one has disowned anyone yet. Everyone speaks their opinion without vitriol. Very civilized gatherings. We all have common objectives like education, healthcare, family, economy, but disagree about how to best achieve improvement in those areas. There are families where if politics is discussed it will ruin the dinner, and some will get up and leave the house. e6 endorsed Post
Nov '12 Neo_NtheMatrix v Yes But almost my entire family and the vast majority of my friends have the same political leanings. So there doesn't tend to be too many disagreements between us. B2 r1 reply e3 endorsed Post
Nov '12 shawem v No It's the last thing on my mind and my family and our holiday is more important. Just knowing that no one can change anyone else's mind is reason enough to leave it alone and enjoy each others company. e3 endorsed Post
o Nov '12 Sharpshooter v Yes Discussion and debate are dying skills mainly because the PC Police have sold many people on the âfriends don't talk politics or religionâ crap. Intelligent people CAN discuss contentious subjects; they can even disagree. The problem comes up when people attempt to enter intelligent discussions without real knowledge on which to back up their opinion. When faced with real argument, and YES argument is a positive productive process, they resort to name calling or simply dismissal of the differing opinion... I'm actually disappointed by the prospects of a political discussion as I have yet to hear or read a rational, reasoned argument backing the current administrati... B1 r1 reply e1 endorsed Post
Nov '12 CanisCanemEdit v Yes Calm, factual conversation about politics is a staple in our house, so why wouldn't we discuss our leaders and their policies over our banquet table? Thank you, my God, for my life. Here's to you and yours. Happy Thanksgiving my friends. B2 Post
Nov '12 Your_Name_Here v No It's Thanksgiving. If we want to discuss politics at the table we should wait until there is something in government to be thankful for. r1 reply e2 endorsed Post
