Barack Obama on Monday became the first US president to set foot in Myanmar, long considered a rogue nation controlled by a heavy-handed military junta. In his speech at Yangon University, President Obama said that pro-democracy political reform, oft the impetus for government violence in Myanmar, is here to stay.
Obama visited Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, a democracy activist who now leads the country's opposition party. He also called upon the nation's president, Thein Sein.
