New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dug himself just a bit deeper into the hole marked "Things Conservatives Don't Like" when he appeared on Saturday Night Live this weekend to yuck it up with Manhattan comics.

    @AceLuby He means that they'd be all over begging victims to relay their displeasure with the poor govt-response as opposed to avoiding all who have been displaced and pointing out what a good job the president has done.

    @AceLuby-- Just like a lib. Have to have everything spelled out for them. It's what I call "willful ignorance." Willfully ignoring the naked media bias that was an indispensable part of President Obama's reelection. Is there really any doubt in your mind that the media would have portrayed Sandy as the second coming of Katrina if a republican was in office? That close to the election?

    But there was a democrat in office and with the election on the line, the media willfully ignored the thousands without power, clean water, clothing, food, toilet paper... Declared the FEMA response an unequivocal success before it even started and then proceeded to attack Romney for collecting food and supplies in addition to raising money for the Red Cross.

    And oh yeah... seven days after the election...

    @Bobolinsky Hurricane Ike hit Galveston and Houston In September 2008. The media did not criticize the relief efforts then even though GW Moron was still in office. That was because the relief efforts weren't screwed up like Bush screwed up Katrina. So much for media bias eh?

    Chris Christie has been running for President since before the election. He wisely realized that Romney had no chance and has staked out a position as the sane one of the GOP. He'll be hard to move from that position. He carries a lot of weight with moderates. He's got a significant amount of momentum built up and will be hard to stop.

    All the fat jokes aside, Christie might be the the best thing thing Rs have going, a counterpoint to the lunatics who've taken over the GOP... IF....people are willing to elect a president who weighs over twice what he should, and I'll bet enough aren't. Perhaps he should consider bariatric surgery. It worked for Nads Nadler.

    @RoyFloyd Christie is the sane one. Fortunately the for the dems the GOP is made up of the kinds of folks who post on Politix. A sane one ain't gonna cut it for them. They're looking more towards the Sarah Palin types. Good news for Hillary and America.

    I myself was very worried pre-primary that he would run because I thought he would have had a shot at winning. Was relieved when I saw the primary race cause everyone of them had so many deficits as candidates that I was pretty confident they would lose, although I must admit after that first debate I became very concerned...

    I thought Christie did pretty well. He's working on being a "people's Republican" and making a joke of his temper. It's very effective marketing except for one thing. It's far far FAR to early to be shaping images for 2016 considering the American public has the attention span of a gnat.

    In politics a week is a year and four years is a century. Highly agree it is far too early to predict who could win or lose. Still my hope is Republicans pick a Palin/Bauchman ticket, or something of that sort...

    @Elliotsreport Well I wish you luck with a Palin/Bachman ticket. I suspect the Dems do as well. The Libertarian party just had the best turnout they've ever had last election. I sincerely believe Palin/Bachman would help the Libertarians greatly.

    @commonsense51 Fawning over the president? Is that what you call it? Because the way I saw it, Christy was thanking the president for how fast the president reacted in a state of emergancy. You know, like signing all those emergancy bills without thinking and throwing everything that christy would need to bring his state back to normal and to help the people of his state. His praise for the president shows how important New Jersey and the people that live there is to him and Im glad he isn't afraid to show that. Thats what a leader should be.

    In a time of crisis like this, FUCK POLITICS!!!!!! You are just mad that Hurricane sandy helped obama and that christy was very happy and very humble to the president for his ability to forget about politics and the election and focus on the hurricane. You just stay in ur corner and keep crying you robot.

    I didn't see and I don't care what he said the same problem exists today as it did in Katrina, WHAT POLITIAN DID PEOPLE ASSIGN BLAME FOR NATURAL DISASTERS BEFORE FEMA? Get a clue not even the President of the United States can control the weather and it should be Primarily up to the citizens to help their fellow citizens first, not the government!

    I think fellow citizens on the spot do help their neighbors first. But I also think that the government is *also* fellow citizens helping. You and I as individuals can't do much to help. But our tax dollars along with millions of others can do wonders.

    If Christie was pandering in the past to the uneducated wingnuts in the republiCAN'T party, and not one of them himself, then he's realized he can distance himself from them. Hurricane Sandy gave him the opportunity to do his job free of political gainsaying - and those who did (e.g. Michael "Charlie" Brown of FEMA infamy) looked like complete morons. Going on SNL allowed him to go further.

    well when i, used to watch tv. i considered snl as comedy, including, parody, satire, and sarcasm. and that they work mostly of a written script, that is not necessarily the actors view point. although they try to make a point, take it for what it is worth.
