New Jersey Governor Chris Christie dug himself just a bit deeper into the hole marked "Things Conservatives Don't Like" when he
on Saturday Night Live this weekend to yuck it up with Manhattan comics.
Christie's 3 minute segment on "The Weekend Update" saw him targeting the "stupid mayors" who ignored his evacuation orders and the reporters who set a bad example for folks by remaining outside during the storm when it was far from necessary to do so.
"I do not want to thank the reporters that put themselves in danger by walking into the middle of the hurricane with their cameras," said Christie, half-joking. "We don't need you to tell us there's a hurricane - we have windows."
While Christie's appearance on SNL has been mostly well-received - the
LA Times believes it to be yet another in a long line of successful Republican cameos on the show -
Business Insider's Brett LoGiurato
points to a
Drudge headline calling out Christie for "clowning" around "as residents suffer."
"It's safe to say that this probably wouldn't have happened pre-Sandy," writes LoGiurato of the Drudge headline. "It doesn't bode well for any future national aspirations Christie might have had."
