Male Cook Files Federal Lawsuit Over Sexist Harassment

He's suing an Idaho school district over treatment by female colleagues

"If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen." So might say the female cooks who are being sued over their possibly foul treatment of a male colleague.

An Idaho man has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit after spending four years in a Boise area school district where he claims to have been harassed by his female coworkers on a routine basis. The Associated Press reports that cook Todd Young is seeking compensation in the form of damages, lost wages and legal fees.

Of all the things to have allegedly set off a series of prejudiced actions on the part of Young's female peers, he points to a dispute over cafeteria recycling. Young claims to have encouraged it while his colleagues could care less about his environmental consciousness. In addition to this kerfuffle, he charges his workplace with excluding him from the new menu creation process and allowing only female supervisors to participate.

What could explain Young's workplace feeling of being a pot with no pan? He says a superior offered this suggestion: "Maybe I'm having staff problems because you're a man."

I don't know.
I worked in retail management for a female supervisor who was extremely prejudiced against males. A self proclaimed "man hater," and no, she wasn't a Lesbian. She just had a bad divorce.
But she once documented a male employee for not calling in sick within the two shout window. He was rushed ro the hospital after being involved in a car wreck ON HIS WAY TO WORK!

Well the whole sexual harassment thing has gotten clearly out of hand so why shouldn't men be allowed to file the same frivolous lawsuits. I was one sued for sexual harassment by a woman who was hired and fired while I was in Europe. Never laid eyes on the woman. But my name was on the door. Of course it got thrown out. Cost? 15,000 to an attorney to get the obvious thrown out of court. I have come to the conclusion that the very best intentioned of laws will be twisted and distorted for the financial gain of someone.

well with equal rights and all no one should be above getting sued for actions against others in the work place. when the so called abused who got these rights put into things become the abuser it should not take a double standard on anything.

same goes with civil rights if all are not equally protected what is the point in the first place? what i see alot of in my line of work is nothing more the gov protection or basically giving some groups the right to harass and be protected form law suits.

check out the law on a hostile work environment, kind of hands some the right to do things and have no reason to hide these actions being only certain people are protected .

If that last supervisor's statement is substantiated he has an EEOC case. Depending on documentation, witnesses, and if he complained he (and his lawyer) may win a nice sized settlement.

Men can be victims of sexist harassment also. He should not be treated differently because he's a man, and if I
were him, I'd definitely check into what my rights were. No one has the right to deliberately demean another person in the workplace. It's illegal.

The only outright discrimination I experienced was in nursing school. When doing my clinical rotation in the newborn nursery the medical director at the hospital decreed there was something wrong with a guy who choose nursing over medical school. Based on that he made a rule that I could only be assigned to boy babies and furthermore had to share that patient with a female student.

If women demand equality, it works the other way as well. I am all for equal fair treatment to everyone. If you don't like someone, tough cookies, be an adult and talk about them behind their back at home, and get over it, like all the other big kids

Jeeze, I'd hate it if a "politically correct" person ever came to work at our place. We smoke in the office and the head dispatcher is forever pinching my ass or asking to touch my chest! Of course she's Lesbian and we have been close friends for a long time. But if ever a civil liberties lawyer darkened our door way, he'd have trouble identifying the "victims" and the "perpetrators."

Absolutely, the same women who fight for "female" rights infringe freely on males daily and think nothing of it. The fact that I have to act or talk a certain way because of "women's" rights or that if Im working talking to other men and a female over hears it and is made uncomfortable its sexual harassment. If I have an erection in my pants and I look at a woman the wrong way. If I have a shirt that says get back in the kitchen. If I ask a woman out on a date, or compliment the dress shes wearing, if I touch her on the elbow.... its ridiculous. On the other hand if a woman were to do the same around other women and I overheard, it would never be questioned. Double standard all the way, but the facts are that men normally have thicker skin its genetic. Women's rights, gay rights, black rights, latino rights, animal rights, whatever rights... there is only one set and its the rights of all men(humans) so have some thick skin and stop the stupidity.
