Defense policy expert Tom Ricks has accused Fox News of "making up" their claim that he apologized privately after he'd announced on air that the network is "operating as a wing of the Republican Party." You can watch the much-publicized initial incident below, in which Ricks accuses the network of "hyping" the Benghazi incident.
Ricks alleges that Fox executive Michael Clemente invented the apology because "when the facts aren't on their side, they [i.e. Fox News] attack the person." Clemente earlier told the Hollywood Reporter that Ricks "apologized in our offices afterward but doesn't have the strength of character to do that publicly."
Politico's Dylan Byers has shared the follow-up note that Ricks wrote to Clemente denying that any apology took place.
After his interview on Fox was abruptly ended, Ricks shared his thoughts with the Washington Post and described his statements about the network as "speaking truth to power."
