Obama and Romney Have a Lunch Date

What should they talk about?

Obama and his one-time arch enemy Mitt Romney will have a private lunch together at the White House on Thursday.

"It was a gracious invitation from the president, which Mitt Romney was glad to accept," Romney's advisor Eric Fehrnstrom told Politico.

The last time Obama and Romney were in the same room - at the third presidential debate - the atmosphere was less gracious, as the president ripped Romney with a series of zingers. "You mention the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916," said Obama, teeing up the best-remembered zinger of the night: "Well governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets."

Twitter users suggest that Obama will be serving "baked crow," or that the lunch may be a "gift" to buy Romney's vote. Others speculate that Obama is hosting the lunch to gloat, or to pick Romney's brains for good ideas, or, less plausibly, to offer Romney a cabinet position.

Agreed! perhaps Romney can use those abilities he said he had of reaching across the aisle to get things done, and work with members of congress to do just that.

Such an accomplishment would look great on his resume...

The debt is impossible to fix with our current system(s) in place, which won't be going anywhere because too many of the "right" (re:connected) people have too much invested in them. Energy's a non-starter, because there's no money for an infrastructure rebuild. College debt can't be touched because it keeps the banks solvent. Corporate welfare is a live wire because it's keeping everyone (barely) employed. Foreign affairs keeps our military machine locked and loaded. CHECK, PLEASE!
