Why Are Republicans Focusing on Susan Rice?
Pundits speculate they're angling for Kerry's MA Senate seat

Pundits tired of the words "Susan Rice," "Benghazi," and "John McCain" have begun concocting elaborate theories for the persistency of GOP attacks on Rice:
1. Republicans want John Kerry's Senate seat. This theory was floated by Daily Beast columnist Michael Tomasky. It makes a fair amount of political sense. If Republicans can nix Susan Rice as a Sec. of State candidate, then John Kerry will get the nod, opening up his Massachusetts Senate seat. And the GOP has a conveniently pre-packaged MA Senate candidate currently twirling his thumbs: Scott Brown, defeated in a close race with Elizabeth Warren. GOP Sen. Susan Collins today lent weight to this theory when she said that "Kerry would be an excellent appointment" as Sec. of State.
2. Republicans are seizing a chance to make Obama look bad. If you were the opposition party, wouldn't you jump on every chance you could to make your opposite number look incompetent and/or mendacious? And it's working: 57% of Americans now disapprove of how Obama handled the attack.
3. Republicans believe Rice is part of a deliberate cover-up. Since this explanation involves taking the GOP Senators at face value, few pundits are talking about it. Except for pundits on Fox, where the alleged cover-up has been the main news story since October.
