LIBERALISM
Is America's Future Liberal?
Under-30s like government and other liberal stuff, says a new Pew study

Conservatives are doomed, claims left-friendly pundit Jonathan Chait. He's basing that claim on a Pew study of young voters, who are getting less white and less Republican all the time.
And those young, unwhite voters express liberal views broader than the stereotyped issue-focus that allegedly motivate the youth vote, a heady cocktail of Obama's cool factor and gay-marriage-friendliness.
In a nutshell, younger voters like government. "By a 59 percent to 37 percent margin, voters under 30 say the government should do more to solve problems," writes Chait. That's utterly different to voters over 30, of whom only 44% have the same faith in government.
Another pattern: in the general electorate, 35% call themselves conservative, and only 25% liberal. But in the under 30s, those trends are reversed.
