's list of nominees
for Person of the Year rolled out this week, and it features Sandra Fluke as a surprise contender among the world leaders and athletic stars.
Fluke's nomination has been going over poorly on the right, with Sean Hannity blowing a gasket over her inclusion. As Hannity put it, "the failing magazine is now elevating former Georgetown law student Sandra fluke to the same level as let's see Winston Churchill, Pope John II, Martin Luther King Jr."
In fact Time's Person of the Year isn't necessarily honored for their positive traits, but rather, for being "the person who most influenced the news this year for better or worse." Hence the 38-strong list also includes Syrian president and alleged mass-murderer Bashar Assad. Other political contenders include Obama, Biden, Romney, Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, and both Clintons.
You can vote here on whether Sandra Fluke should be Time's person of the year. She's currently at number 19, above Biden and Mitt Romney.
