Florida congresswoman unafraid to confront GOP

Debbie Wasserman Schultz will return to both her jobs. President Barack Obama is keeping on the Florida congresswoman for another term as Democratic National Committee chair, Politico's Mike Allen scoops in "Playbook".
"President Obama won Wasserman Schultz's home state of Florida, burnishing her record after a cycle where she participated in 1,000 events and interviews, and helped solidify his hold on the Jewish vote despite a huge Republican effort. Top Dems say taking back the House is a key goal for the party, and she is perfect to lead that effort," Allen writes in an exclusive.
"Wasserman Schultz, a tireless fundraiser, combines a youthful optimism with a fierce partisanship. 'She doesn't shy away from the tougher fights,' a key adviser said. 'It's helpful to have someone who doesn't mind going toe to toe. ... She's a leader for women, and the grassroots love her.'"
DNC chair is a pretty good gig. But it's also a consolation prize of sorts since there isn't a leadership opening in the House. The top three honchos, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Whip Steny Hoyer and Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn are all over age 70. Their staying on has limited opportunities for young members like Wasserman Schultz, 46, to move up the leadership ladder.
