State Sen. and Chicago Democrat Donne Trotter has been charged today with trying to board an airplane with a weapon. Trotter was apprehended at O'Hare International Airport with a .25 caliber pistol and the ammo to go with it,
reports Politico.
The 62-year-old veteran lawmaker was caught attempting to transport the gun in a garment bag. He told authorities that he'd been working late at a private security job and that he'd forgotten the firearm was there.
According to
Politico, no reply has yet been forthcoming from Trotter's office, but the senator will remain in custody until a hearing in a Cook County court tomorrow.
