State Sen. and Chicago Democrat Donne Trotter has been charged today with trying to board an airplane with a weapon. Trotter was apprehended at O'Hare International Airport with a .25 caliber pistol and the ammo to go with it, reports Politico
The 62-year-old veteran lawmaker was caught attempting to transport the gun in a garment bag. He told authorities that he'd been working late at a private security job and that he'd forgotten the firearm was there.
According to Politico
, no reply has yet been forthcoming from Trotter's office, but the senator will remain in custody until a hearing in a Cook County court tomorrow.
