State Sen. and Chicago Democrat Donne Trotter has been charged today with trying to board an airplane with a weapon. Trotter was apprehended at O'Hare International Airport with a .25 caliber pistol and the ammo to go with it, reportsPolitico.
The 62-year-old veteran lawmaker was caught attempting to transport the gun in a garment bag. He told authorities that he'd been working late at a private security job and that he'd forgotten the firearm was there.
According to Politico, no reply has yet been forthcoming from Trotter's office, but the senator will remain in custody until a hearing in a Cook County court tomorrow.
yeah but he would be chastized by the smartest congresswoman alive, from the DC area...a truely intelligent woman named norton. this brainiac actually said this "we should not encourage people to have guns, in fact we dont want to see shoot-outs with criminals...they have more expirience with shooting guns than someone who buys a gun just in case they can use it"
that my friend is a pearl of wisdom from a real life washington political hack, who should be making beds at the motel six instead of making laws .
@PoliticalSpice this old fraile looking chicago congressman claims he has a second "job" and its in the security field...and he uses a 25 cal. pea shooter....and thats his story? that is the second dumbest thing I've heard this week from two of the dumbest sitting "representatives" of the people... what really scares me is these two idiots were elected to represent presumably even dumber people in their respective districts
But wait a minute...I thought Democrats hated guns and they were "bad". And since he is a Democrat, he is immune to being randomly killed or ever being put in a situation that would ever require the use of a firearm!!!! It must be backward America!
Are you sure Mimi? He's an Illinois State Senator, not a United States Senator. I can't speak for Illinois, but in a lot of states, Oregon for example, serving the State Senate or House is a part time job and doesn't pay a whole lot.
Yes, he's a STATE Senator, and probably makes somewhere around $15-20K for the job, so I can understand the need for side-work...but that's beside the point: He's a Democrat, and an Illinois-Dem to boot. I'd like to see his voting-record regarding gun control-legislation in the state of IL.
Looking at this from a different perspective altogether, I'd hate to think that the Libs would sacrifice one of their own in order to set up some kind of "false-flag" against the Second Amendment...HINT-HINT
I apologize if I was too graphic in describing what even small caliber pistols can actually do to people. I may have had a similar reaction when I first got hold of a book called "The Medical Implications of Karate Blows" and found out exactly what happens to a person when the very same techniques that I have trained to perform are used in anger. Still, I think that a responsible gun owner is an informed gun owner. Shooting at targets does not prepare you for anything but hitting them.
@mimi57 You or the one saying that. I never said anything of the kind. This is not a black or white issue. Why play the race card?
All I'm saying is there has to be a way to keep guns out of the hands ok those with a propensity for violence. There has to be a way how to make it harder for criminals to get guns.
I'm not talking about taking guns away from Yahoos and hillbillies. They have a right to shoot their food every night. I'm quite sure that if they tried hard enough they could kill each other with the cane fishing pole. It's obviously much easier with a gun to kill another human being.
I guess I'll never understand what you people just don't get about this issue.
Thugs will always be armed, since they disregard law. So it only makes sense that everyone else be armed as well, you know, equality and freedom and such. Not that complicated. The world will always be a "big scary place" for some who have no spine, but the rest of the world shouldn't be subjected to their insecurities, and deserve to be able to protect themselves from the bad apples.
It was an accident. Accidents happen. It's likely he will lose his career, and perhaps go to Prison as a result of it.
It happens, especially when you're exhausted at the end of the day. The arguments against him seem to be ''I don't like your party!", which is absolutely irrelevant. If anybody actually bothered to research on this Senator, you would know that he is an advocate for the second amendment.
Research is your friend. He is anti-gun/anti-freedom as are most politicians. Part of the elitist "do as I say and not as I do" mentality that politicians tend to have. Simply search his name and one can see his anti-gun voting record.
That's the wrong question, Politix. The question you should be asking is, should we keep electing lawmakers who are too stupid to know the law? Seriously, how much of a bonehead do you have to be to try to carry a gun onto an airplane these days?
Nothing more but the same hypocritical behavior from the lib/Democrats. "Do as I say, not as I do" ...." no one has the right to protect themselves except me"..... That's the typical liberal mindset. Then they want special privileges just because they believe their special. Maybe his right to own a firearm should be taken away. Since that's all they want to do to everybody else that's legal and law abiding. Hypocrites nothing more!!!!!!
