Rapper Psy Takes Heat for Demanding that 'Yankee' Soldiers Be Killed

Remarks by South Korean rapper Psy years back trashing American troops have threatened to tar the squeaky, goofy-clean image of the singer here in the US.

He's a big deal: his "Gangnam Style" video has apparently surpassed even Justin Bieber's "Baby" to become the most watched video on YouTube ever.

During a performance in 2004 with the Korean band N.E.X.T., Psy, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, uttered the following:

Kill those f---ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f---ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully.

Harsh, and with a shotgun approach to guilt and punishment to be sure. But Psy has since apologized for his words, saying that at the time of the performance he was especially emotional over both the deaths of two schoolgirls allegedly killed by US soldiers (they were later acquitted), and the beheading in Iraq of a South Korean missionary.

His statement of apology didn't come before a White House petition asking to have Psy's invite to the Oval Office rescinded had made the rounds. The petition has since been removed from whitehouse.gov, prompting one conservative to ponder the motivation for the act in true "hmmm" style.

    It's funny to think about it, what were our citizens saying after 9/11? We were probably really nice about it didn't say any bad words and most certainly didn't wish death upon those who did us harm. So why is it so hard for so many to understand that if the South Koreans or any other country we occupy had tanks and a station in our country, we would be outraged! What if this theoretical country occupying part of our land had a tank roll over two of our children wouldn't we have some harsh words about them?

    Don't confuse this for liking what he said because no I do not like what he said, but I understand it. Blowback happens when we police the world and impose our will on other countries, the sooner we realize that the better.

    @Buckfan4life2 I'm no fan of Justin Beiber but I don't think I've ever heard of him condemning the U.S. and surely you know that we did our job in S. Korea long ago when will we let them be on their own? Or do you want us to parent them forever?

    I served in the military in a planning role. My area of specialy was Korea and I participated in a joint/combined exercise with Republic of Korea (ROK) forces each August. Trust me, they don't see us as "invaders." Our troops and weapons are there because ROK forces know they need our help defending their country from the NK. NK has over 20,000 artillery tubes aimed at Seoul that are in range, just over the DMZ. So this pop bozo needs to keep his ignorant trashmouth shut!!

    It has never failed. We get ordered into every third world shit-hole to help, follow orders, do what we can...99.9% of our soldiers perform honorably as we pour billions in to the country to help with infrastructure, food and medical aide.

    Then some dipshit like this says of our soldiers:

    "Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully."

    IMO - If this Korean idiot gets invited to the White House it will indeed be a sad day for the American military and those who support the troops...and poor judgement on behalf of President Obama.

    @Denizen_Kate They are already at almost 4.5 million views! Wow. They just released it last Thursday.(If and when you have time, check YouTube for their first viral hit "I'm Farmin' And I Grow It." It's so earnest and good-humored, it's near impossible not to like them. Go Kansas farm boys!)

    People who parody parodies are the most un creative morons out there. "Im on a Boat" has how many parodies now? Its a F$&@ing parody already!! obviously the definition is lost on some. There are parts of YouTube that should go away quietly.

    @marine1 no doubt this White House will make him a hero. don't forget this was the same White House who put a Christmas ornament of Chairman Mao on their very first White House Christmas tree... and not only that pictures were released and the intention was to let the American people know that the fundamental change of America had begun

    Not a rapper. He's a K-pop singer. Pretty decent one. One of the more catchy songs I've heard in quite a while with an excellent meaning and moral to it.

    He's saying he's looking for a girl that is a good girl, a sexy girl is a girl that doesn't show everything to everyone and is someone who can just enjoy a cup of coffee and that he's just a normal guy. Doesn't have muscles. He's a smart, warm guy who is "bulging with ideas rather than muscles."

    Did Boehner, or anyone in the so called "Tea Party" say that "Yankee Soldiers should Die"?
    Can you explain how Boehner, and the Tea Party hate America?
    Is it just because they dont share your love of Obama's big goverment, tax and spend policies, that you lump them in with terrorist's?

    Everyone has a right to their opinion. I can see where he's coming from with that statement. We were only in Iraq over a bullshit lie and murdered thousands of Iraq's people and for what ... BIG OIL and war profiteering! You don't see us in Syria do you, why? They could nerve gas the entire country and all will probably do is make empty threats.

    When we have a chance to truely help someone in a time of need we turn our backs on them and hang them out to dry because if corporate America can't profit from it or your not an oil producing country were not interested!

    Of course, all the so called Christians in this country should be willing to forgive and look past that statement but like most things in this country, their faith is only a thing of convenience!

    What's ironic and hilarious to me is the fact that if Jesus existed at all, he looked like Middle Easterners and not the stupid image of a blond blue eyes man hanging on the walls of Americans too stupid to realize that he would have been a freak and stoned to death if he actually looked like that during that time in that area.

    I don't think the white house should "retract their invitation". However, I do believe that someone from the white house should be "assigned" the duty of approaching mr. psy (in private) to persuade him to change his mind about performing at the white house. This is just yet another "distraction" that will be used by the far right and their "entertainment complex" to cloud the many issues that are currently on the table right now. And if the Obama admin. publicly withdraws its invitation, that will also be made an "issue". So the best way to do this is with quiet behind the scene diplomacy...thereby "taking this out of the right wings hands as any potential issue"...

    First off, Kung Fu is Chinese not Korean.
    Second, he's big on YouTube and in case you don't understand how that works (which is highly likely since you don't understand Kung Fu is Chinese), YouTube users host videos for free. Yes, they don't receive compensation for them. So, there goes the whole "American Dollar" theorem you so creatively came up with. He's big in Korea and makes money there, hence rapping in his native language. Also to his credit he also speaks perfect English, meaning he's at the very least Bilingual. Which is better than at least 80% of moron Americans. Best guesses put bilingual Americans at 25%. Even the most optimistic guesses are at 52%, which is considerably less than the rest of the worlds countries. Basically, yah, we are dumb as hell.
    Maybe do some research before you post such blatantly wrong statements.

    I think they've found Elvis. He's been living in Korea and it shrunk him...Yes, of course he should not be invited to the White House...he's a foul mouthed , no talent AZZ..., but they tend to like that type there, I'm sure he'll get another invite...maybe he'll bring 'Hanoi Jane' next time. Just because you have money, and just because your in the White House does NOT mean you have an ounce of class.
