Yes, most adult Americans know that Santa ain't real.

Having said that, more of them think he's a Democrat than a member of the GOP, informs The Hill's Justin Sink. In a new survey admittedly carried out by a Democratic polling firm, 44% of those whose opinions were culled said that St. Nick would be a member of the blue team, while 28% said he'd throw in for the red team (the bipartisan view being that hey, at least they're both Christmas colors).

Oddly, considering the source, more folks polled believed that Romney was likelier to make the "Nice" list than President Obama. 63% vs. 51%, respectively. As Sink notes as well, nearly half of those polled believe that yes, there is a war on Christmas intended to make the "holiday season" more secular in orientation. Then again, "four in 10 Americans say no such effort exists" to remove the religious overtones from the end-of-year festivities.

@Cool_voter - Please provide your "Santa as a conservative" arguments. The original basis for Santa is definitely Christian. "Free" stuff from government is a bad idea no matter who offered the original bribe (celebrity endorsements don't work well for me).

@CanisCanemEdit - I thought the elves were volunteers, and since Santa can make anything for free what do you need gov. Handouts for? Entrepreneurs make profit, Santa doesn't. He's more of a charity organizer that runs his operation at 100 percent efficiency. If he is an entrepreneur he's not a very good one.

I would think the concept of Santa would be GOP. The well-heeled GOP feel they are always entitled to free stuff simply because they are wealthy. They dont want to pay their fair share of taxes, they get the best rates and discounts because they have the best credit. When someone ask them to share, they call it communism. Plus, Santa gets big bonus points with big business by cloistering indentured and underaged servants away from unions and the prying eyes of big brother.

The Dems feel they are always entitled to free stuff simply because they are lazy. They don't want to pay their fair share of taxes because they are dependent on the gubmint and demand free stuff paid for by those who worked hard to become wealthy. Good credit is earned, not a given. Pay your bills on time and you too will have good credit. Nothing wrong with charity but forcing a person to "share"? Underaged servants? Stretching that one a little too far even for a dem. Good labor practices are never hidden. Only unscrupulous union practices are.

Santa is way to cool to worry about political parties. Santa just guves to the kids period.
However, I was talking with Frosty an a couple if elfs just the other day and they told me that Santa had a Romney/Ryan sign in his yard pre-election, but they didn't know if he actually voted or not.
