Joe Scarborough is calling on Republicans to fight back against the "bullies" within their ranks. Perhaps literally.
Raw Story reports that the MSNBC host is warning conservatives that the "far right" is akin to a fox - so to speak - in the hen house, and that it's high time sensible conservatives confront talk radio hosts like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh with a punch in the face.
"Do you think any of these people on talk radio if they're punched in the face by a Republican nominee, do you think they would push back?" Scarborough stated Monday. "No, they're cowards."
The pundit agreed with the sentiment of right-leaning commentator Bill Kristol that conservatism of late had become a "
racket," and that Republican politicians felt compelled to echo the talking points of popular talk radio hosts. "Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket," said Kristol, who suggested a "reinvigoration" of the Republican party.
