Patrick Moran is having a tough year. The son of Congressman James Moran (D-VA) has plead guilty to beating up his girlfriend outside a bar in the Columbia Heights section of Washington, D.C., reports Washington City Paper.
That's less than two months after the Arlington County Police Department, in Northern Virginia, opened a criminal investigation of Patrick Moran over a video purportedly showing him offering advice on how to cast fraudulent ballots.
Moran and his girlfriend were fighting outside the Getaway bar around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 1, according to a police report, over Moran talking to another woman. Suddenly, Moran allegedly slammed his girlfriend's head into the bar's metal trash can cage. Moran was arrested for felony domestic violence assault, but pleaded the charge down to simple assault.
It's not the first run of bad publicity for the Moran family when it comes to domestic disputes. The congressman's second wife filed for divorce in 1999, one day after an argument at the couple's Alexandria, VA, home which resulted in a visit by the police.
