The man who brought you "Gangs of New York
" is turning his attention to a former occupant of DC.
that director Martin Scorsese has inked a deal with HBO to deliver a documentary on the the nation's 42nd president, aka Bill Clinton.
The movie is unlikely to be a harsh critique, since it has the go-ahead from Clinton himself, and the men behind it are all Big Dog fans. Director Scorsese considers Clinton a "transcendent figure," and HBO chief Richard Plepler has called him "one of the most compelling figures of our time." Co-producer Steve Bing is also a longtime supporter of Bill and Hillary.
As the Washington Post notes
, this isn't first in HBO's foray into presidential profiles. Earlier this year the network ran an expose on Bush 41 entitled, in fact, "41." And before that, a biopic on Ronald Reagan.
