May 15 LEC v No, it's been appalling! It just gets worse with extreme groups like the Tea party and The Republicans going from a true conservatism to polarizing and activist politics and the Democrats ducking every fight and Congress failing the Country by refusing to work together for what is best. Both sides are to blame. Post
May 14 AlexNWA v No, it's been appalling! 2012 has been the most divisive, disgusting and racially charged political year since the 1960 's and not just the campaign with all its lies and propaganda by Fox and the Tea Party radicals that want to destroy this great country. Mitt was their perfect candidate, two-faced and willing to say anything to buy a vote from the ill-informed. Post
May 12 wde01 v No, it's been appalling! EVERY recent election year has been appalling due to the fact that no TRUE independents have been elected to state and federal office (Sen. King of Maine lost his independent credentials in my opinion by caucusing with the democrats) in quite some time. America has been controlled by the corrupt, extremist, liberty-killing, perverse lib and con wingnuts for far too long. Post

May 11 NoAmnestyEVER v No, it's been appalling! Depends on what you mean by "good year". For the unemployed, four dead Americans in Benghazi and people who believe that America is still a democracy it was miserable. For illegal aliens and a president who completely bypasses Congress and the American people to get what he wants it was great. Post
May 9 PayThatCEO v No, it's been appalling! America suffers from an epidemic of long-term memory loss. I'm 55 years old and I'm not sure I can remember a "good" year for politics. What exactly is a good year? Most have been bad for as long as I can think back. For the last decade the divisiveness has been extreme, and I believe it's deliberate. The hate of American towards American is out of control. I think there's been a brainwashing campaign going on, and unfortunately a whole lot of people have been affected. There's no such thing as a good year for politics, however politics has now destroyed our country. No matter who is president, the path we're on right now will be our demise if we keep on it. Post
May 9 DanielZ v No, it's been appalling! From Mitch McConnell calling his first priority to make Obama a one-term President to Republicans voting against their own proposals to keep Obama from accomplishing anything at all, Congress has deserved its 11% approval rating (worse than Qaddafi's just before his own people killed him). When venal careerists voted down background checks that 90% of the people wanted, it demonstrated a serious flaw in our system: that each state has two Senators, regardless of population. That lets a handful of sparsely populated red states stymie the will of the people. Things don't seem much different on a local level, either. In Michigan, the governor has effectively disenfranchis... r1 reply Post

May 11 cdman Don't forget that the number of representatives from each state in the House of Reps. is based on state population. Claiming that red states with the same number of senators as higher populated states "stymie" the will of the people is a preposterous statement considering that the house has a majority of republicans at the moment. u Jan '13 FatherPhoenix v No, it's been appalling! This year showed us neither side of our single party system cares even a tiny amount about what the people want. At both conventions they had scripted votes which totally ignored what the delegates were saying. The GOP showed that if they want to win they have to cheat to even get the candidate they want without having to give up a lot of their platform. This year is why I won't vote for anyone with an R or a D by their name. Post
Jan '13 AlphonsoW3 v Yes, it was Its been an excellent year in politics. We had a vigorous and sometimes offensive debate over which direction we would take our country and we did it peacefully. We are slowly making our way through an ethnic and generational change in the composition and direction of our country. The increasing acceptance of our neighbors that have different lifestyles and those of us that look different from the "majority" population in our nation's past in fact increases our strength and standing in the world. Our adherence to our "rights" and tolerance of differing opinions will test our nation's values and commitment to the ideals of the constitution, and we will exceed the muted ... Post

Dec '12 PNWest v Yes, it was We voted for a black President for a second time. This time it was in recognition of the job he did the in his first 4 years. We are seeing the beginning of the end of the modern GOP. The party that brought you clowns like Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock, Joe Walsh, Allen West and GW Bush is dying. What comes out of the ashes is anybody's guess. A minimum wage earning wait staffer with a cellphone camera shot a video that overcame hundreds of millions of $$$ of special interest advertising. The takers are the new majority, they want their check, they didnt earn it, other than being an approved minority whos been kept down by the man. Sooner or later the makers will die off, leaving welfare queens with 14 babys and #15 on the way, "disabled" people who could work but dont and imports from 3rd world countries without a source of income. I for one cant wait to see the benifit society run out of money and worthless takers have to do something for thier food. Dec '12 jessejaymes v No, it's been appalling! When I was under the age of 10 Dwight Eisenhower became President. A republican. I recall the adults sitting at the kitchen table moaning and groaning that the country was going to hell in a hand basket. A few years later these same parents, uncles, aunts, etc.. sat at that same kitchen table and moaned and groaned about Eisenhower being a do nothing president who spent all his time on the golf course. I also remember Eisenhower leaving us with his single most important message of his Presidency. "Beware the Military Industrial Complex". Since that time America has elected both Dems and GOP as President. And the other side begins to bitch. It was said that Kennedy wo... B6 r4 replies e4 endorsed Post
u Dec '12 CaryNickel v No, it's been appalling! 2012 proved to me that the majority of American voters just don't care about freedom or constitutional liberties, but rather about what's in it for them. The majority, given the choice, chose selfishness over what's good for the country, and government control rather than personal initiative. Presidents like Reagan AND Kennedy would look at today's United States and see a nation they do not recognize, and an electorate not willing to accept personal responsibility, nor ask what they can do for their country. It truly is appalling. r1 reply e9 endorsed Post
Dec '12 awbaldridge v It was so-so There were a lot of ups that I saw, especially in this last election cycle. And a lot of downs. Everything is just so polarized now that when something good happens, it's a great victory, but when something bad happens, it's a huge setback. So really, it's kind of been a roller coaster. e5 endorsed Post
Dec '12 jessejaymes Obama has found the courage to champion every single social issue any splinter group has to complain about but done almost nothing for the rank and file of America. Promised to create jobs but has instead funneled trillions in taxpayer dollars to Wall Street and while all those benefited companies have either grown to new heights (banks) or gone out of business (Solyandra) only three things happened for us. We lost money with the bail outs despite those companies now being solvent. How can they take money and not have to pay it back? The pockets of CEO's and backers are lined like never before. And Obama spent 1 billion of Wall Street money on his Campaign. Just about... B5 Post @jessejaymes
o Dec '12 Sharpshooter "We voted for a black President for a second time." You pretty much summed it up... too bad we didn't just elect a President. The being "black" part has lost it's charm, perhaps he should instead concentrate on doing the job. "This time it was in recognition of the job he did the in his first 4 years." Yep... he did such a great job his party needed to mount the biggest "get out the vote" program at the last minute in history and then bragged about it. Newsflash!!!! 53% of the popular vote isn't much of a mandate considering how weak the Obamacrats portrayed Mitt to be. Having to spend the amount of time, energy and money to get the "black" vote to show... B4 Post @Sharpshooter
