@PoliticalSpice - this may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I guess there may be no relevant news today. Look at the first 4 post of the day. Not one thing of importance.

@kirbstomp1 the dumbest thing. Your not giving them the credit they deserve. Is this more dumb then texas seceeding? Or the arizona electoral college comments questioning obamas birth certificate? or that woman will not become pregnant if it is a "legitimate" rape? or that "mission accomplished" banner? You really shouldn't "misunderestimate" these folks...
  • !
@PoliticalSpice - lol I shall bite my tongue before I make an unjust statement such as my former one. I need to put more thought and consideration into what I am saying so not to make myself look dumb.

Oh dear God. The mission accomplished banner may be this biggest publicity BS stunt I've seen with my own 2 eyes.(sadly enough I liked Bush then, I was also ignorant) Even with that said I knew then it was a joke of a publicity stunt. Oh and look were still on the mission, 4 years later. The birth certificate one, all I can say if you don't think he's a born American then your a fool. Our system wouldn't allow that to happen. Texas...enough said.

Here's the problem with the Bible Belt. They keep threatening to secede but won't actually do it. This country (that remained without the BB) would see our quality of life increase, our taxes lowered (since we don't have to support them), our freedoms become actual freedom again and on top of all that? The cherry on the whipped cream. The national average I.Q. would jump up by a good 20 points.

sounds to me like someone who understands the 10th Amendment. the article makes false claims that John Roberts decision was somehow evidence of his support of Obama care. it was not. his decision merely pointed out that Obama's healthcare bill was a new set of taxes.
  • !
    @bsking not just the rich.

Several large companies are opting to pay the penalty(tax) when they file taxes because the penalty(tax) will be cheaper than providing health care for their employees.

Good going Obama supporters. Enjoy the handouts while you still can.

Home visits to see how you are living? That is the first I have heard of that. Nancy was right you have to pass it to find out what’s in it. I can’t imagine even the liberals would want that especially if they are subject to the same.

The problem is that it will be federal law in 2014. I don't agree with a lot of the law, but can do nothing about it until the next Presidential election, then vote in a Republican. The Democrats don't have to worry about having a Republican President because they will still hold the majority in the senate.
I don't agree with the mandate that you have to buy health insurance or you will be "taxed". That is not a tax, it doesn't follow the definition of a tax. It is a penalty! What about the people with pre-exhisting conditions. Their premiums are astronomically higher. Is the federal government going to supplement it enough for the average citizen to be able to purchase it? Probably not. I have a pre-existing condition and just bought PPO insurance. To get major medical insurance (which is what I need) would have cost me upward of $5,000 a month with very high deductibles is way more than I or most anybody can afford. Also, no one has any business coming into my home!

Using different numbers in this calculator it looks like many will be shifted to Medicaid. The problem with that is fewer doctors will take Medicaid. According to this a healthy single young adult making minimum wage and can’t get insurance through where they work will be eligible for Medicaid. My own insurance will go down a little but I know someone is going to pay for it. http://healthreform.kff.org/subsidycalculator...

    @David944
Medicaid is not just limited by doctors. They will not pay for medicines and procedures that are needed. The funny thing is that Medicaid will pay for narcotic pain meds and Valium!

@Belin I am not that familiar will Medicaid though it looks like a lot of people will be getting much more familiar with the program soon.

What law would the officials be breaking? I am against Obamacare but I also don't see how enforcing it as a law would be against the law. If the State votes out the law so it can not be implemented their maybe then it would against the law to enforce it as it would not be an enforceable law. The more we learn about the content of Obamacare the less popular it becomes. Most people are against it, it is Obama's crowning acheivement and he still got re-elected. I think that proves the vast majority of all voters are not well informed voters.

Ok, if the legislation this twit is introducing passed the state law in douth carlonia would make it illegal for people, mostly state and federal employees, to implement Obamacare. That is the law people would be violating, except that the constitution makes clear federsl law overrides supercedes state law, so the south carolina bill, if signed into law, would be uneforceable.
As to voters re-electing obama, let me give a hint. I am unhappy with obama care. I supported national health care, single payer or at least a public option. Of those single payer is the easiest to implement because the systems are slready in place, all that would be necessary, legally, was to remove the words "over sixty five" from the medicare statute. I and most people I know supported one of the three options I mentioned, none supported obamacare. So why did I and people like me vote to re-elect him? Simple, because with all its flaws, obamacare still marks the largest expandion in healt care access in over 50 years.
I donot expect you to agree with the obamacare, judt trying to explain why many people who opposed the law still voted obama.

@PoliticalSpice I know federal law supercedes state law but the SCOTUS has said that states can opt-out of Obamacare and many have. So then Obamacare could not be enforced in those states. Therefore anyone trying to enforce a law that is not in effect in that state is not doing so legally.
Nobody can be legally denied medical care due to lack of insurance, but many do not seek it do to the out of pocket expense. If not for the VA coverage I have I probably would have been one of them after I lost my job due to an illness. That illness would have killed me if not treated when it was. I don't think anyone should have to die due to the fear of mounting medical costs stopping them from going to the hospital, and I could have easily been one of them.
I even knew it was serious and and my vitals were out of control and felt like it would kill me (doctor's confirmed that after problem was discovered and surgery was scheduled) if left untreated but I did not go to the hospital without knowing the costs were covered. I however do not think that this legislation is a good choice to cover the uninsured and that it will decrease the quality of healthcare recieved. Also much of the law includes provisions not even relevant to its original intent.

@crusader well the s ct said the states could opt out of only part of obamacare. I read the entire decision.it was the medicade expansion they could opt out of, if memory serves correctly...

Federal law preempts State law, so no, this won't work. It does send a message though about the distain over parts of this law. I know my medical insurance jumps up 18% next year because of it. On top of the other medical tax increases that will get passed on to me as a consumer.

It's almost cheaper to stop working, become a leech, and let all y'all pay for my medical, housing, phone, food, etc. You know, the new American dream.

    (Yes I'm being facetious).

are you sure?i believe the 10th amendment is constitutional law, which is the supreme law of the land?"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people....so as health care is not a example of a true federal mandate,it should be a state issue,..Some dared to question the socialist agenda, not good
  • !
@MongoAPillager I am anti-0bamacare socialized medicine, I think this law will ultimately bankrupt America. Do I think over-zealous Federal Government officials should be jailed? Sure, it's a novel idea. But realistically, it won't happen.

@MarkJM i like the fact that someone is physically trying to make a point,it sets a good precedent and may give courage to others,it went thru the supreme court with the narrowest of margins, there may yet be some unforeseen hope
  • !
@MongoAPillager I agree, and the next SCOTUS hearing on it (regarding religious organizations being forced to cover contraceptives against their will) will be an interesting one. Does SCOTUS uphold the separation of Church and State? That will be an interesting ruling indeed.

how about going after states who refuse to enforce federal laws, like those in charge of sanctuary cities and states the top officials.seems the fed like to pick and chose what crimes they cater to.

I'm not sure which is worse, a state legislator who does this sort of thing to enhance his yahoo factor (important in certain rural areas) or because he seriously thinks this could work.

Colorado and Washington made weed legal although it is against Federal Law, an example of state nullification. Being passed by the Supreme Court left South Carolina with no other option but nullification.

It is helpful when the real morons self-identify. Actually, I think Mr Chumley is making a bid for his 15 minutes in the spotlight.
At least it's a little fodder for whoever runs against him.

To all those opposed to this: Are all the states officials in the states who have legalized medical marijuana and recreational marijuana are dim wits and stupid and even "retarded" as fellow member "idiot" said?

As much as the idea of Obamacare disgusts me, this is just plain asinine. Who came up with this carp....ow wait it was a politician, determined.
