President Barack Obama will officially nominate Massachusetts Senator John Kerry for Secretary of State this afternoon, according to the Washington Post and a Politicobreaking news report. Kerry will succeed Hillary Clinton upon confirmation by the Senate.
Kerry has long been rumored to be President Barack Obama's top choice for secretary of state, particularly after UN Ambassador Susan Rice bowed out of consideration. Rice submitted letter to withdraw her name from a possible nomination last week, after controversy around her role in reporting the official US account of the Sept. 11 attacks on American diplomats at Benghazi, Libya.
@Tralee I did a quick Google image search. Didn't see a picture where he looked like he had the mumps, but I did see one from Monday where he had two black eyes and a swollen nose that he said was from "a recent pick-up hockey game with family and friends." I notice that he also has no puffy bags under his eyes, which is somewhat unusual for a 68 year old man. Does he play hockey with plastic surgeons by any chance?
@Neo_NtheMatrix Yes, former. I was a lockstep republican for the entire 24 years I served in the military. Once I retired, however, their meanness and lack of compassion was hurting MY friends and MY neighbors, folks I knew were not the evil lazy poor folks portrayed by jerks like Reince Priebus. I also was astonished at how these GOP politicians voted down every attempt to allow service-injured retired veterans to receive both their earned retirement and their deserved disability compensation. I started my own business and soon learned that the GOP's definition of small business was one without an office in London. The GOP has done NOTHING to help the REAL small business owners. So, yeah, former for life.
He was basically the compromise candidate from day one.....granted one side only wanted that compromise so they could make a run at his Senate seat(which will not work) but he is a very qualified man for the job. I say an excellent choice.
Well, he was most people's guess for the job 4 years ago. many people were shocked when Hillary was tapped for the spot and even more so when she accepted. she was probably the best person for the job at the time and she did a great job. it was truly selfless of her to accept, and follow throught with that request from her former rival for the presidency.
@puppybrownie Kerry, a hippie? Do you have any idea what that word means? What is unamerican about protesting a war one does not believe in? And how high is your hypocrisy, since are are bashing a decorateed soldier?
He's a better choice than Obama's first choice...and no, I'm not being racist. The "other" Rice was a very good SoS and should be tapped for the presidential nomination. Imagine it, a black, female, Republican president! She'd get my vote. But the Dems would go ballistic because they don't "own" her. i.e. she's not a Dem and NO black Republican can ever run for office...look at what happened to Herman Cain.
I finally figured it out, Goverment invented that game we all see at the fairs, you know where you pick up a little ducky from the round about water and you get what you deserve for playing that stupid ass game.
What do you expect- another traitor . Hey John , why the long face ? LOL Just upset Hillary & Thereza have bigger testicles than you ? Now BO has somebody else to help him bow & curtsey to the tyrants & despots of the world. Sickening !
