Some good news to warm up your holiday. No Newtown police officers have to work Christmas day thanks to brother and sister officers from across Connecticut.
Policemen and women statewide have stepped up to cover the shifts, allowing Newtown officers to be home with their families for the holidays.
The plan hadn't been officially announced, but it was discovered by The Atlantic's Adam Clark Estes, who noticed rumors of the generous action on Twitter and called the Newtown Police Department to confirm it. He also learned that the officers volunteering their time are donating their Christmas day pay to Sandy Hill Elementary School charities.
