May 18 LEC v None of the above I enjoy talking politics, but I avoid family gatherings.. so maybe the question should have been "do you enjoy talking politics? Post
May 7 JesusLivesInMe v I sometimes do it by accident I don't mind talking about politics when it's necessary. I'm not just gonna bring it up because I feel like spouting off what I party I like and don't like. I'll bring it up if the conversation is ripe for it. I generally try to avoid it though as most in my family would vehemently be against my views (and not JUST politics) and it would cause more problems than anything. However, even though I don't talk to much about my political views with them I do make it very clear (in some way or another) that I'm a stark Conservative and I'm against Liberalism, hehe... Post
May 5 Prime_Meridian v No, I avoid it at all costs Nah, family get-togethers are stressful enough without injecting politics into them. Post
May 4 Philof v Yes, I find it enjoyable Yes, we are a large family and we enjoy the discussions. We all feel there is something wrong about how things are in this country and it is nice to discuss the views we have. Post
u May 2 SuperBeast v Yes, I find it enjoyable My family is full of Republicans, so there is no problem there. Post
May 2 LHoran v None of the above I like to talk about it, just to make sure there will be a good show ;) Post

u Apr 29 BossTweed v Yes, I find it enjoyable I'm lucky. My family are very intelligent and most fair minded intelligent people can argue BOTH sides of every issue. Post
Apr 28 Keyjo v None of the above Fortunately, I have NO family to discuss it with! Both my parents are now deceased and most of my other relatives were Bible thumpers, preachy to a fault! Ewwww! I left home at a very early age and never looked back! Post
Apr 27 Randolf Like folks hav said below, it depends on the job. Im on call 24/7 365 an its a dangerous job. But i dont think its quiet as important what you do off duty if you flip burgers. Post
Apr 27 Randolf v None of the above I do only when they bring it up. our views are night an day different!! Post
Apr 25 DavidRobertson v No, I avoid it at all costs My family are a bunch of ignorant, unrepentant liberals. My inlaws are just plain ignorant, but if they were political they'd be liberals. I try to avoid political discussion with them, as there is no hope of changing anything. They're just too clueless. Their ignorance fuels anger when I blow up their arguments in front of everyone, so I try to avoid fights. Post
Apr 25 Mr_GO_HERD v Yes, I find it enjoyable My family falls under almost every branch of the political tree. Except the Tea Party and for that Im thankful and don't mind conversations. Post
Feb '13 ZombieMedic v None of the above Feel sorry for people who have nothing else to talk about at family gatherings other than politics. Post
Jan '13 Guns_and_Stars v Yes, I find it enjoyable Yep and you'd better bring facts and logic and not rhetoric. B1 Post
Jan '13 ukuleleism v I always do, but regret it Only Libertarian in my entire extended family, everyone is hardcore Republican. Post
o Jan '13 LikkerdySplit v I always do, but regret it my pa generally gets the ball rollin' we all more or less agree (cousin's and such) but still there's other, better, things to talk about Post
u Jan '13 KeenObserver v I always do, but regret it If we talked about the issues more often, we would find common ground faster, but my family sadely prefers reality shows and don't know what they are talking about anyway. Post
u Jan '13 alethea v I always do, but regret it Its not so much family that I regret discussing politics with as I do with people who lack insight or open-mildness, I find the general public ill-informed, apathetic and just plain too selfish to see beyond their needs. Racism continues be a non-issue so long as its not up for discussion, Hatred for humanity lurks behind almost every religion. Single persons are still ostracized over families first. (Although over 50 % of marriages end in divorce and there are more women not only having children out of wedlock, but through generations expect government to care for them and their children because these young people are not only unable to care for their children, but il... Dec '12 jessejaymes v No, I avoid it at all costs There are three rules in my home. 1.) No Politics 2.) No Religion 3.) If confused see rule #1 and rule #2 e22 endorsed Post

u Dec '12 KyleMFb v I sometimes do it by accident Some how politics always get brought up and I feel inclined to drop some knowledge on on those right wingers B1 e8 endorsed Post
Dec '12 LALibertarian v Yes, I find it enjoyable I love to talk politics. I know what I believe and why and mostly can present evidence to support myself. However, when it comes to family gatherings, my family is the ones saying "Obama is the anti-Christ, and Romney is a Christian." Interesting statement, correct? Both are completely false, so I roll my eyes, counter-argue, and explain how gays have the same rights as I. By the way, just because someone's supports gay marriage does not mean that they themselves are gay. It means one believes in individual liberties. B2 e5 endorsed Post
Dec '12 truthsayer v Yes, I find it enjoyable Mostly we discuss the unintended effects most legislation has had on the country or the skillful ways politicians mask their true intent. An example of which would be the patriot act. Legislation designed to strip away all protections the Constitution offers but given the name patriot to make it easier to sell than the government can do with you as they please act. Dec '12 FFX_VA v I sometimes do it by accident Family gatherings are about catching up, sharing stories, discussing family; those are more important than politics. If politics does come up its usually local politics and the discussions fade into something else rather quickly e5 endorsed Post

Dec '12 Thegrif v Yes, I find it enjoyable All conservatives in my family, except for Mother in law, who was a very rich real estate broker and very conservative till she had a stroke, now she seems to be more Lib. Then again her brain isn't firing on all cylinders either, so that exains it. B1 e3 endorsed Post
Dec '12 DerivePI v Yes, I find it enjoyable Politics and religion are important and enjoyable topics of discussion. To have a fruitful conversation, it's important to listen, tell the truth, show respect and never attack the person for their point of view. A good question is often better than a good statement. Dec '12 jamie91 v Yes, I find it enjoyable But I have some a-holes in my family that turn it into an absolute rant. That is why it is probably best I usually work Xmas. But I do enjoy it with my non-a-hole immediate family. B1 e1 endorsed Post
