Most of the civilized world is hoping for a speedy recovery by George H.W. Bush after his recent hospitalization. No so among a few sickos on Twitter who are actually hoping for the 41st president's demise.
In "Daily Download: Spotlight On The Media" journalists Howard Kurtz and Lauren Ashburn take to task those wishing the former president ill. "George H.W. Bush wasn't even that polarizing a president. I think a lot of this is anger being vented at his son," says Kurtz.
"So what did Bush do that was so terrible? He broke his read-my-lips pledge and cooperated with Democrats in raising taxes. He presided over the end of the Cold War. He liberated Kuwait by assembling an international coalition, though there is plenty to criticize in the way the Persian Gulf War was handled," Kurtz writes. "I guess this minority of hate-mongers must be disappointed that Bush senior seems to be rallying."
I not only don't think that is true...But I will personally call for civility, and respect for Mr. Bush, and wish the best for his family in at this time. But please keep in mind, just who might be "lacking in civility with their nasty messages to Mr. Bush..." Apparently, at least some are republicans still angry at the former president for having to raise taxes, and or "cooperating with Democrats"...So looks like a great deal of that non-civility is coming from people on your side of the political spectrum....Now you can also take a moment, as I did, and ask for some restraint and civility from those on the right..
Sorry folks, although a Dem, I am old school and not raised to be like that. If I had differences with the gentleman's policy, it begins and ends there. As a Man, Husband and Father, plus being a former President, he deserves respect of the highest order from me, you, and all. He displayed 'Class' and these tweeting a-holes display absolutely NONE.
These are the ass clowns who give the Democrats and Republicans a bad name. Maybe the secret service should find these ass clowns and remove them from the world so they will not be so stupid. Is anybody out their old enough to remember when something was said about a sitting or retired, President was threatened or death threats were taken seriously and something was done about it. What happened. This is not freedom of speech, this is a threat on a presidents life. Get the S.S. on thisand do their jobs.
And this is where parents have failed their children! Give them all a good, naked butt spanking AFTER they pick out their own switch. Then, off to bed....no supper.(And what really scares me, this is our future!)
@jamie91 And you actually think 18+ makes one an adult? If so, just why do many 18+ still live at Mom/dad's place. Adult's take care of themselves....though all occasions and even help Mom/Dad....not burden them. Bahaha
Well, unfortunatley, seeing as this site is censored by liberals, I wouldnt expect to see them call themselves out on anything. I just had a post removed because I dared say that the public schools arent doing thier job. They are, as far as KREMLINIX is concerned, pumping out good little socialist drones. Nothing but praise for the ruling elite is allowed here. Read this quick before it's removed.
Their "tweeting" will turn to "whimpering" when the Secret Service knocks in their door, confiscates their computer/cell phone/tablet, and hauls them off for questioning. Better line up your lawyer now idiots.
@FFX_VA Their job is the safeguarding of the integrity of American currency and providing protection for the president (former and current), his or her family, and visiting dignitaries. Going after people that made snide, arrogant and inhumane comments about a sick man really doesn't fall under that job description, no matter how much you want it to.
I think you are right. As a die-hard Liberal, I pray for the Former President. He was not my favorite president, but by all accounts was a warm human being. I have heard many stories about his kindness, many from Democrats. These tweeters are angry, misinformed people, who should be told by Federal Agents how inappropriate their actions are. Seriously, these folks are a mess.
@harold_lloyd perhaps, but philosophical involvement is not the same thing as invading a country that never attacked the u.s. and bringing death and destruction upon that country. Some things may happen in the course of being president that cause deaths that were not intentional, but the war in panama was not one of them, nor were those who died in covert sctions that he authorized as CIA director.
@Cheenoguy There are no pics here, no one I know, nothing to prove. I can be seeking answers just as easily as I can be trolling. A tweet like that was sincerely hateful and that's something I know I don't do. So I don't see an irony because I don't see a simularity.
@AlexMIA Just because you share your opinions with anonymity doesn't mean you aren't sharing your opinion thinking someone else might be interested. Actually if you think about it when we post here we may be being more arrogant because we are thinking complete strangers might actually care what we have to say. Whereas I know all of my Facebook friends and most of my Twitter followers I don't think I know anyone here (which allows me to just be blunt without concern for a friendship making this a nice release). I know my Facebook friends are interested in my opinions because I know them well enough to know. My Twitter followers must care because they follow me. I doubt these people have a deep seated hatred for HW. They likely are mistaking him for W. Or, and I think this is more likely, they did it to get attention and perhaps increase their followers. It's what I like to call the Gaga Plan. No real reason for people to care about you? Act ridiculous and people will ignore your lack of talent (or in this case intellect). Giving them attention doesn't help society only them.
Seems like a biased poll, there is no option to support. Honestly, Bush is one on the most evil men alive right now. I don't wish him death, I think a long, lingering and painful illness would be more appropriate.
@AlexMIA Who I REALLY am? I am a US citizen who is registered to vote. Bush is a eugenecist. It takes a little understanding of history but here you go- From George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography --- by Webster G. Tarpley & Anton Chaitkin: Just days after (the Pope's) Humanae Vitae was issued (in 1968), Bush declared: "I have decided to give my vigorous support for population control in both the United States and the world." He also lashed out at the Pope. "For those of us who who feel so strongly on this issue, the recent enyclical was most discouraging." Bush's and Schneebeli's amendments reflected the Malthusian- genocidalist views of Dr. Alan Guttmacher, then president of Planned Parenthood, and a protege of its founder, Margaret Sanger. Sanger had demanded the weeding out of the "unfit" and the "inferior races," and had campaigned vigorously for sterilization, infanticide and abortion, in the name of "race betterment." Although Planned Parenthood was forced during the fascist era and immediately thereafter to tone down Sanger's racist rhetoric from "race betterment" to "family planning" for the benefit of the poor and blacks, the organization's basic goal of curbing the population growth rate among "undesirables" never really changed. Bush publicly asserted that he agreed "1,000 percent" with Planned Parenthood During hearings on the Social Security amendments, Bush and witness Alan Guttmacher had the following colloquy: Bush: Is there any [opposition to Planned Parenthood] from any other organizations or groups, civil rights groups? Guttmacher: We do have problems. We are in a sensitive area in regard particularly to the Negro. There are some elements in the Negro group that feel we are trying to keep down thenumbers. We are very sensitive to this. We have a community relations department headed by a most capable Negro social worker to try to handle that part of the problem. This does, of course, cause us a good bit of concern. Bush: I appreciate that. For the record, I would like to say I am 1,000 percent in accord with the goals of your organization. I think perhaps more than any other type of organization you can do more in the field of poverty and mental health and everything else than any other group that I can think of. I commend you. Guttmacher [to Bush]: May I use you as a public speaker? Like his father before him, Bush supported Planned Parenthood at every opportunity. Time after time, he rose on the floor of the House to praise Planned Parenthood's work. In 1967, Bush called for "having the government agencies work even more closely with going private agencies such as Planned Parenthood." A year later, he urged those interested in "advancing the cause of family planning," to "call your local Planned Parenthood Center" to offer "help and support." The Bush-Schneebeli amendments were aimed at reducing the number of children born to blacks and poor whites. The legislation required all welfare recipients, including mothers of young children, to seek work, and barred increases in federal aid to states where the proportion of dependent children on welfare increased." The guy's father bankrolled Hitler. He used lies about babies killed in incubators to get into Iraq. His son used lies about WMD to get into Iraq. When you understand history it is easy to see how he and his family are evil.
Bush Senior actually handled the Gulf War 1.0 the right way. He took away Saddam's war making machine without destabilizing the entire area. We were able to bring our troops home and not worry about policing an entire nation. Dubyah should have taken notes.
Yea he handled it fine except for the lies he used to get the American People to support him. And the way the troops were treated when they came back sick and dying. And for the 5000+ innocent civilians killed. And the fact that he didn't finished the job and his son had to go back 10 yrs later to finish the job. Unless that was done on purpose?
@RealityOne If by "finish the job" you mean kill Saddam and destabilize the entire area, making way for our military to become one of the largest and most ridiculously used police forces in the history of our country, then yah. Good call. Saddam was a horrible human being, I don't think anyone will dispute that, certainly not me, but he provided a stable regime (albeit an evil one) for the country. Now its a complete mess of a situation, with a pretend "Democracy" in place. More civilians are dying every day and continue to, and we lost more troops for no reason. His son didn't need to "go back 10 yrs later to finish the job" because there wasn't a job to finish. The first time Iraq invaded another nation and was trying to impose its will via might, the second time there wasn't any such situation in place at all. We went to war on the fantasy of "WMD's" and metal tubes that were complete fabrications based on nothing more than a vendetta. The American people were used and lied to, and the feelings post 9/11 were used to garner support in Congress.
RealityOne is looking for his attention quota of the day. Here you go little fella. Here's a cookie and some milk. Afterwards it's nap time for you. Little fella must be all cranky and tuckered out after all that frothing at the mouth and that over-active imagination.
Never wish that upon anyone. If you believed in Karma, that would but a great big target sign on you! President H.W. Bush was a great and honest man! If you dislike his son, then heap your hatred on him. Though hatred will just turn you bitter and suck the joy out of your life. Either way, you lose for being such a horrible person as to wish death on him! There are horrible people in this world that have done such atrocious things that they are deserving of death before they can do more harm and kill more innocent people! Take the leader of Syria for instance. That is not just wishing death on a person, it is praying for justice to be served. There are men that take little girls or boys and rape and kill them. One of these children was a little girl in Florida who was buried alive after all those horrible things had been done to her. Now compare these dispicable people to former President George H.W. Bush. You can't, there is no comparison! Some people deserve the worst punishment. Others there is not punishment enough. President George H.W. Bush should be celebrated as being one of our good presidents that got both parties to work together for the common good of our country. He didn't get to finish the first gulf war. President Clinton came in and brought the troops home and proceeded to decimate our military. Imagine if the first war was allowed to proceed as planned? There never would have been a second war in Iraq! Kuwait is safe for now, but the infighting between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims continue. We will never stop it! But at least there is no Saddam to keep killing his own people with chemical weapons because they were Shiite or Christian instead if Sunni like him. The latter was accomplished by his son, but would not have been needed if former President Clinton hadn't stopped short that campaign by just allowing the Iraqi soldiers to retreat back into Iraq instead of proceeding to cut the head off that snake!
I'm not Democrat but I will say, it's not all Dems that feel this way. There are many moderate to conservative Dems with morals & Christian values. That small portion of politically uneducated , low-class, socialist-leftists are responsible. They are far more vulgar than any Party backers out there.
@ConserveUSA -Great point. Most of those pushing hard to maintain 'segregation' were Democrats . Sadly, very few people today take the time to educate themselves on such issues before spouting off on subjects unknown to them. Moronic reality shows , pro-sports & others continue the dumbing down of America - it's OK for entertainment , but has no bearing on your life . At least spend a few hours per week looking up what your politicians are voting for & who it benefits .
