Gun shows are sending a creepy vibe throughout New England in recent days, for obvious reasons, which is why one police chief in the region has refused to sign off on one.
Business Insider reports that the city of Waterbury, CT, has denied Westchester Collectors Inc. the opportunity to host a gun show next weekend at the behest of Waterbury Chief of Police Michael Gugliotti. It's a move that follows the cancellation of other gun shows scheduled in the state in recent days.
"I was thinking about what I need to do as a police chief during this type of crisis to ensure that our citizens are feeling safe and comfortable," Gugliotti told the press. "Out of respect and honor for those 26 folks that lost their life in Newtown, I made the decision then and there to send the promoter a message that I would not be signing any permit for any gun show until further notice."
But as
BI's Abby Rogers points out, one gun show scheduled for Stamford, Connecticut - home of Adam Lanza's father - will be going ahead as planned this very weekend.
