May 10 whatheheck v No Last time the wife and I ever had the flu was when we were getting the shots. Started taking a few vitamins and other supplements and haven't been ill since. The shots are a farce. Post
May 7 PJS1973 v Yes The flu shot has the endorsement of the medical establishment, it's backed with hard science and has years of proven utility. To me, it's silly not to. Post
May 5 AntiPorcheria v No No. Never. Flu shots are another example of the FDA and our government en toto being in the pocket of big business...in this case Big Pharma. Every year another panic about another strain of flu and reported "deaths". The truth is that most of the deaths attributed to ANY flu are to the frail who were about to die of something. No report anywhere has ever demonstrated that "flu shots" save lives. They simply give you a low dose of the flu to build antibodies. Your body will do that on it's own. Post
u Apr 30 digitalshaman v No Call me a hypocrite, I'm relatively young and healthy, I don't take them; but I highly reccomend it for the elderly. It could have saved my father's life. Simple flu turned into pneumonia and he was gone in less than a week. Post
Apr 27 Concerned_Cit v No Heck no. They're mostly for people with weakened immune systems or people in or working around hospitals and the like. Had the flu before, wasn't as bad as drinking Mexican or Jamaican tap water. Post

Jan '13 DrCaneJr v No The flu shot is a weakened/dead version of the flu virus. Injecting your self with the vaccine does produce anti-bodies, however, it takes up to two week before you actually get any type of resistance to the flu. The vaccine itself isn't against "the flu", the flu virus is vast and has many different antigens depending on the strain of flu. What the vaccine actually is, 3 strains that a CDC desk jockey gets to play the guessing game on. Post
u Jan '13 citizenjane v Yes I normally get one every year (and have my 4 children inoculated too). The only difference this year is that my employer required it. Many people die every year from the flu and it can be prevented with a simple vaccination (please don't try to say that you have gotten the flu from the flu shot - nope - providing you receive it within the parameters -it is a dead virus. Yes it is possible to feel unwell afterwards because it does give your immune system a jolt, but still nothing like getting the full-blown flu. Sorry, I will step down from my soap box now...stay healthy Post
Jan '13 mrspat v No I got a flu shot one year and stayed sick the hole winter and part of the summer. So I won't do that again. Post
o Jan '13 USailCapital v No It's more fun to spread it around the office and see colleagues sick and miserable Post
Jan '13 Thegrif v No Maybe its just me, but sure seems like the surest way to get the flu is to get that damn flu shot. B3 r2 replies e40 endorsed Post
Jan '13 dsilenius v No No, thanks--I can do without a megadose of mercury and other exciting chemicals! B1 r3 replies e17 endorsed Post
u Jan '13 Emerald1 v No They say you can't get the flu from the shot. No, you probably can't get the actual "flu"...just enough side effects to make you feel like death warmed over...but it technically is not the "flu"..just the symptoms. Either way...take the shot and get sick, don't and you may still get sick..but by taking proper precautions you may not. But, wow...the media is making it sound like the Bubonic Plague is back. Watch for a federal state of emergency to be announced soon. B2 e2 endorsed Post
Jan '13 Keyjo v Yes I got mine in November. That was a little late, they usually recommend getting the shots in September or October. It's a bit late, now. I've been getting them since I was 10, I really hate being ill. B1 r1 reply e3 endorsed Post
Jan '13 Russell797 v Yes I got the shot at my doctors office several months ago. It won't protect you from every strain of the flu, just the ones expected to be the most virulent, and it won't prevent you from getting a very bad cold. If you don't want to contract the worst flu out there, get the shot. e3 endorsed Post
Jan '13 MadAmerican v No Already had the flu and from what I understand from our great social media is that this strain that is hitting America is not the strain targeted. Besides I don't like foreign bodies in my system unless positively needed, because I do not trust drug companies nor the FDA! B1 e2 endorsed Post
Jan '13 Thunderchicken v No I haven't had the flu in years. I'm looking forward to catching it and taking some time off. ;-) B2 r3 replies e1 endorsed Post
u Jan '13 Chromalord v No IF the flu shot was so effective, and millions or people are getting them, then how could we possibly still have a flu-epidemic? I dont trust the FDA with their determination of what they deem safe to inject in our bodies. Lots of controversy around childhood vaccines, the medical community is big-businesse's bitch so they push flu shots, but who the hell knows what's really in them? B2 r8 replies Post
