No, the intention was not good. It was self serving. He didn't do this to protect the kids in that school. He did this to make a political statement. Hope he enjoys his time in the jail and his fine. This is grandstanding that serves no purpose. He was also making terroristic threats. As I understand it the man could be placed in a cell without an attorney for an indefinite time thanks to the Patriot Act. Let him reap what he's sown.

@Knightmare If someone as paranoid as he seems to be had been in that office he could very well be dead right now. He should be thankful.

We dont have all the facts......as far as I am concerned, the school and the police are making up excuses when he went in there to ask a question. It has to be the truth, because tie time line in play involved studends coming into school.......remember, he wasnt a threat ans thats why 911 wasnt called this stinks.

A dime a dozen? No. I believe the welfare "take care of me" statists are a dime a dozen. This guy may be stupid, but ignorance from your side is rampant.

@Realthinker Liberals have turned into the discriminating racists they used to be justified in calling many republicans. They try to tie every white person's act of stupidity with the tea party. They're starting to lose this battle as polling shows that us Ron Paul supporters are on average smarter than the average cookie. Honestly, the Tea Party would sound great if every single corrupt GOP politician didn't try to tie their name to it. The tea party started out as a protest, hoping for a return to the constitution. It was more or less started by Ron Paul. The most disgusting one is that Alaskan Governor who will not be named...

That was a classic doofus stunt. Did it unveil anything about the school no one knew before? Nope. But our hero did get some new life experience involving the justice system.

Hypothetically speaking... Let's say that the NRA had it's way and all of the teacher's were packin' AK47s. Can you just see a Don Knotts looking 60 year old Social Studies teacher coming on the scene and going all 2nd amendment on this moron?
  • !
I donno.... are you working at that school as a teacher?

It's been over a month since the Crime at Newtown... everyone in the Propaganda ministry and the regime are totally focused on the safety of our children and have been since word of it came out.

The skids are well greased with the spilled blood of 20 children getting everyone's mind on the problem...

NOW let's go hypothetical... The guy walks in WITH intend and ability to kill 21 kids.... what has the regime done to protect them?

Let's go hypothetical again.... The NRA got it's way. The school district realizes the building isn't Wal Mart and the greeter has been replaced with an Armed Guard....

Sorry, this guy is an idiot but how stupid is that school district to allow circumstances where this could happen.

@Sharpshooter One of the prime complaints that conservatives level at liberals is that we "always blame the system and not the criminal"? That is exactly why YOU just did. You blame the school and excuse the criminal. Hypocrisy at it's finest. Add in the implied name calling at the beginning of your post and we have a typical conservative poster boy.
  • !
@PNWest One of MY prime complaints about Liberals is their proclivity to selectively READ and then attempt to intelligently craft a response that appears to be honest and complete. They toss in the Hypocrisy or Racist Card in hope of appearing indignant to assist in generating artificial credibility.

    Did you miss this part?

"Sorry, this guy is an idiot but how stupid is that school district to allow circumstances where this could happen."

"This guy is an idiot...." blaming him

"... how stupid is that school district to allow circumstances where this could happen." Not important because word hasn't come down from da prez'.

I guess until Government steps in to protect us all from evil... evil doesn't exist and the children in that school weren't at risk.

That's NOT the world I grew up in, nor is it the country our founding fathers intended.

I've known some teachers I wouldn't trust with a Sharpie, much less a loaded gun. As a 12 year old, I was beaten up by my gym teacher. It was very traumatic and even though the teacher was fired, it made me realize that no matter what the profession crazy people are everywhere. I can't imagine what might have happened if this crazy woman had had a gun.

I disagree with my esteemed colleagues who posted before myself. It was what has to be done to get people off the dime and prepared. We love to emote and cry and howl at atrocities across this nation and we certainly love more laws passed. But none of that prepares an individual school for the possibility. I think the guy deserves a medal. There will be some preparedness and training at that particular school now won't there?
  • !
This is akin to a bomb threat. Yes, security might be upped because of the false alarm, but regardless the threat is a serious issue with serious consequences. He will now need to deal with those consequences and his child might be w/out a father for a while. Not smart.
  • !
Sorry jesse I disagree on this one. How would you feel if you worked in the school office and this guy comes bursting in? How traumatized were these poor office workers? By your argument they'd probably be beefing up security even more if he had really shot a few people.
  • !
@PNWest They should be traumatized in my opinion. This nation loves to wail and do NOTHING. And if I worked in the office? We would have already have dealt with something like this. The guy never threatened anyone. He simply showed them what would happen if someone had a gun. Bet that school goes on lock down now. Which I believe all schools should. My granddaughter goes to a private school. I didn't agree with that but I'm not her parent. Today I do agree with it because you're going to have to kill people outside that school before you get at her. That's the way it should be. What kind of school allows a guy to simply walk up to a 'greeter and say bang bang you're dead" and then walk into the office and say the same thing? What was the greeter there for? To say hello to a lunatic?
  • !
    @jessejaymes He did threaten them.

"A Texas Dad walked up to the greeter at his child's elementary school and told her he had a gun and his target was inside as students arrived one morning last week."

Also, what if the school WAS prepared, had an armed guard, was notified and took him out? What if he instead called in a bomb threat, is that ok? I just don't see how this course of action is good when there are so many other alternatives to raise awareness than to fake being a killer looking to kill kids at the local school.
  • !
@AceLuby "bang bang you're dead and your dead" is not the same as a terrorist threat. We can go and forth on this until the cows come home but the bottom line is I bet that that school prepares now. 1 down 3 million to go.

Just like those two guys walking around residential streets with assault style rifles, this guy is just plain playing with a less than a full deck...at least they all give that impression with their less than intelligent acts.
  • !
    Both stupid.

But the difference was that the father was hiding the fact that he had a gun while the men on the street showed it visibly to everyone. At least you can get away from the men on the street, but not the father.
  • !
True, but it was meant to be a simulation. If he HAD been a shooter, in the time it took him to say the words I have a gun you're dead, he would already be walking over the greeter's corpse into the office, you're dead, and you're dead, etc.
  • !
    @Real4WheelDrv
I agree. I think he should have let the school board know what he was planning. That way someone would have known. Plus most shooters don't have a main target. Most of them are just plain evil.
  • !
"thats why there should be a ban on all assault weapons!" Yup, that'll stop this from ever happening again. Because when you are willing to commit murder you'll definitely obey a ban. <sarcasm>
  • !
@Medicinebow You are right, but it will make it harder to carry out, and if it saves one life then it will be worth it.
  • !
@Raptor banning cars would save a lot of lives. Banning cell phones in cars would save a lot of lives. Banning hiking wouldsave a couple of lives so would banning jogging and biking. I have heard of people getting hit by cars or dropping dead of heart attacks while walking or running. Banning playing basketball would save some lives and so would banning swimming. Banning golfing and waking in the rain would save a few. I heard that several people died from slipping in the shower so i think the logical approach would be to ban showering. See we can all sit in our plastic bubbles and let the government protect us.

He would first have to be capable of thought. If he had just had enough sense to look up the word "consequences" in the nearest dictionary ...

It's entirely possible that even this school district is working on it, but what this guy did was pure, unadulterated stupidity, for which there is no cure. He's lucky he isn't today's latest recipient of a posthumous Darwin Award.

    @Denizen_Kate
His core idea of testing preparedness is good but yeah the "surprise I'm not going to tell or coordinate with anyone" yeah that's dumb for sure.
  • !
@Denizen_Kate Ya know what is even worse though Kate? The fact that we can seriously sit down and talk about this drills as something that is needed is really sad.

This guy didn't even need a gun to cause mayhem and panic in the school. And no one did anything to try to stop him. They called the police *after* he left?
This highlights why schools need professional security staff on site like any other government building.
  • !
Great idea-bad results for him, but you can see that schools and local governments are living in denial. I bet after all of King Obama's circus plans go into law nothing else will improve. All the liberals will then finally have to admit that they are wrong and have been wrong on gun control for 40 years!
