It's a world where most people are tired of people dying from a lack of healthcare. If you don't like government mandated or single payer healthcare may I suggest moving to a 3rd world country where they don't have it. I hear Somalia is real nice this time of year. :)

@Zazziness I am looking forward to all the new prison guard jobs that will be created when those whom cannot afford health care will be convicted of the crime of TAX EVASION. Yes, you will be TAXED for not having health care insurance and if you can't pay, you're going to jail.

Wackenhut and others private prison operators should be quite pleased with Obamacare.

    @RobertJHarsh

in the real world, those that cannot afford it will have it paid for them. we already pay for everyone's health care, just in an incredibly inefficient manner. at least this could be an improvement...maybe...

Yeah I think it is definitely here to stay. It will take a while to get rid of it…like state charity or welfare as it is called here. Like I said. I have lived in many countries that had this kind of healthcare. A lot of people die while waiting for procedures. .and care quality gets bad. You may think this is good, it isn't. It works ok in small countries. You will see. However, heathcare is a way for regimes to control large amounts of money and a good chunk of the economy and society. Plus it allows the government to have a large vested interest in your personal life choices. They will have to in some respects; but this gives them an excuse for about anything. The big 3 are healthcare, labor (particularly manufacturing – auto), and energy. Don’t believe me look at history of other nations. I don’t expect that Americans will fight it because most don’t know any better. All I can say is use it A LOT while you are young before they figure out how people beat the process. This burdens the system but will help a little when you are old and have to wait for procedures. This is how you do it in Euro and Asia. The good news is Europe is dropping this old way of doing this. So Americans will have an alternative; vice versa of the status quo now.

I just got a pleasant surprise this week at the doctor's office. Normally, the co-pay for the specialist I see once a year is $70.00. That may be pocket change for Bachmann, but it's grocery money for me.

Anyway, I go to pay for the doctor visit and I'm told to put my money away. "Under the new Obamacare rules we don't take co-pays anymore." Huh? You mean I can keep my $70.00????

I was very pleasantly surprised and went by the grocery store and put some money into the economy.
  • !
The fact that you didn't have to pay a co-pay just means that someone else is footing the bill for you. Or more likely, no one is, and the amount will be added to the national debt in the long run, as ObamaCare continues to fall short of revenue requirements, as all government programs do. The money you put into the economy will be more than offset by the debt's drag upon it. There is "no free lunch", and no free health care.

@CaryNickel It's simple really yet progressive liberals don't get it....in their own way they are just as selfish....just as greedy as the corporate tycoons they decry....
  • !
@CaryNickel these idiots have no foresight and can't grasp the implications that government health care Inflicts on its so called beneficiaries. Ohh the guy saved $70 dollars. While that's a lot of money the truth is its going to cost so much more later in ways these half wit liberals are yet to comprehend.

Medical device manufacturers get hit the worst and when there is no profit to be made why invest the money to create new medical breakthroughs that could save lives. Why produce anything but the bare minimum if your being compelled to?

Oohhh you save $70 today but your going to loose so much more tomorrow.

HMMM....wondering if the one's who introduced these repeals AND spent 50 million taxpayer dollars (opps WASTED) would like to write a personal check and pay it back? Oh jeez, that's right, 50 million is just a drop in the 55 gallon drum!!

Rep Bachmann's career arc has clearly reached its apogee and it's all downhill from here. Sort of sad, too: her highest moments involved winning an irrelevant straw poll in Ames, IA. Oh, and priceless photos of her eating a corndog.
  • !
Oh, i think her sponsoring a bill to repeal a ban on light bulbs that never existed int eh first place was the highpoint of her career...

Or the McCarthy-like accusations she hurled at her fellow colleagues...

or her proposals to amend the US constitution on total non-issues....

    etc...etc...
  • !
@NormalFlora Ah! You're right. Sorry about that. Hmmm... does this mean that since she hasn't denied it, Bachmann may be a witch? I'm always on the lookout for those. ;-)
  • !
Some form of it is here to stay. There will be amendments made to bring about improvements, but the basic foundational blocks such as universal coverage and pre-existing conditions will remain intact.
  • !
I feel sorry for her, if only there had been some sort of sign that this kind of bill wouldn't pass... Like, say the other 33 failed attempts to do so. Bachmann is a cartoon.

As the economy collapses around us, are we going to worry about healthcare and bombing brown people, or eating? Much of the food we eat has been polluted by companies like Monsanto. Solve those problems and the dependency on modern medicine will diminish.
  • !
Yes, every american will be able to recieve enormously expensive substandard care. Oh, and we will have no recourse when it is awful because we should be thankful for whatever we are given. Thanks obama.
  • !
It's the same care that was around 5 years ago and the cost has increased at a slower rate than at that time... so I don't understand what your point is...
  • !
@AceLuby government involvement.always costs more, always lowers standards for everyone. No commonsense no competition. Look at any government agency or government involvement in our school system.
  • !
@Mia Name That is blatantly false. Every industrialized nation has some sort of public healthcare and they ALL deliver it for cheaper. A lot cheaper. Your broad brushes aren't going to work. You said 'just wait'. Well, how long? It should be a simple question for someone who has enough knowledge to understand how a program will make healthcare more expensive with worse results. A year? 5 years? 10 years? How long?

DC politicians should switch their healthcare with our veterans. Our veterans can have the top of the line choices in health care that the politicians enjoy. The politicians can go to a facility, lets call it the pa. They can wait and then they can see whoever is available. Oh, maybe they can even live there is they need to. Im sure it will be great!

It's nice that there are women in congress that have crashed through the glass ceiling with hard work, are dedicated to all of their constituents, and reflect well on all women and the strides they have made in expanding their roles in the upper echelons of business and government......unfortunately Michelle Bachmann does none of that and only reinforces the stereotype held in much of the rest of the world that women in general are unfit and ill-equipped to do any of that.

Republicans, under John Boehner, have caved to the left once again. That doesn't mean the fight to end ObamaCare is over, it just means that more Republicans need to be replaced with people who understand the Constitution, and liberty.
  • !
Not a good comparison. Ann Coulter makes a lot of off-the-wall crazy remarks when she has a new book to plug. She makes a lot more money than Bachmann.
  • !
@Denizen_Kate Both Ann coulter & Bachman ALWAYS makes crazy comments. Both are rich. Both rile. My comment was not based on competitive money making schemes.
  • !
Bachmann couldn't find her own tosh with both hands!
She is supposedly trying to curb wasteful spending ala the Tea Party. Yet she continues to waste millions of tax payer dollars on this.
  • !
It just makes me laugh these fiscal hawks waste 50 million on something that they passed, the president signed and the Supreme Court upheld. It's not going to be repealed stop wasting time and money and get to work.

In related news, A witness has stepped forward to verify that the look on Boehner's face in the photo was later accompanied by the words "holy toledo the nutcase of Minnesota is back. What are those people thinking?"
