Lupe Fiasco Booted Off Stage After Anti-Obama Rap

Booking Lupe Fiasco for an inauguration party was unlikely to go well, since the rapper is known to hold strong anti-Obama views.

Lupe was escorted offstage by security after he spent 30 minutes rapping the same anti-Obama song over and over again. The controversial verse says something like, "Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist. Gaza strip was getting bombed. Obama didn't say sh*t. That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either."

The event organizers released a statement saying they nixed Lupe not because he criticized the POTUS, but because he was making bad music:

Lupe Fiasco was not "kicked off stage" for an "anti-Obama rant." We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act. Lupe Fiasco repeated the one song for more than 40 minutes.

However, online commenters seem convinced that Lupe was removed for his political message. "Lupe was kicked off stage for criticizing Obama," tweeted Margarita Noriega. "I won't lie seeing #lupefiasco tonight was amazing. 40 min protest and he gets kicked off stage," tweeted Sajad Ghanizada. Video footage suggests the enthusiastic crowd had no problem the one-song show:

@NormalFlora - I've never called anyone that word ever. Black call each other that word all the time though. In any event, all I said was obama's base is even criticizing him. Is the word thug a euphemism for black? I thought white people could be thugs too? Look at the unions that have been rioting and tearing up the country over the last four years. Many of them thugs are white as snow. You can keep your race card.

@RobertJHarsh Sorry to break it to you but minorities can be brain surgeons just not on those qualification alone. I just love when stuff like that backfires on them, I already knew but it's refreshing to see that not all minorities fall for their crap. BTW, you should look up Ben Carson, facinating story, not just his, but the way his single mother reared him into who he is.

Hats of to the guy. He should have come prepared with more than one protest song in order to play off the performance. 40 minutes of the same song is a bit much. You have to wonder though how long the party elite let him play without actually listening to what he was saying, you do know these people aren't really diverse right? They were probably like yeah lets let the black guy sing, that always scores points for us. Wait! What's he saying?

The 1st amendment prohibits infringement on speech by government, not music promoters. And at that, 40 minutes is a lot of latitude. I've been kicked off stages for way less stupid in far shorter time.

We got hired one night in Canada as a replacement band for the Go-Go's opening act. We thought we were going to be huge stars from the exposure. Just never mind that we were a hard rock band and that of the 10,000 tickets sold there were about 400 in attendance while we were on and we were told to leave the second our 20 minute act was over. LOL

Not familiar with this guy but if he was repeating the same refrain over and over for 40 minutes, I would have booted him off the stage too. As much as I love the Rolling Stones and Earth, Wind and Fire, if they repeated the same verse over and over again, off the stage very fast.
