@Neo_NtheMatrix No I'm fully OK with the 2nd amendment. I just don't like Mitch McConnell and his BS rhetoric.
  • !
@Cheenoguy - It starts with regulation. Then when the Democrats discover it won't work, like everyone told them it wouldn't work, they move on to more severe measures. You just wait. We'll end up in a prison state yet.

@woodtick57 The only reason tobacco is still legal is because the politicians can't live w/o the tax revenue it brings in. Which is what the politicians wanted in the first place. Truth.

The overall liberal mindset is that you as a person are so stupid you need them, the highly intelligent progressive to tell you how to live. The arrogance of it all sickens me. I recently had a liberal tell me that I owed it to the illegal immigrant to give him a drivers license. Why, he broke the law to get here. Because it's statistically proven that immigrants with who have to qualify ie take a driving test are better drivers and that will reduce accidents. What about all the illegals that don't pass. Well they won't get drivers licenses. Will they still drive? Uh yes probably. Ok so other than the fact that some of them will have licenses and others will not, what has changed? He had no answer. So I asked him if the people that drove without a license should be punished.Yes, they are breaking the law. So you are ok with punishing people that break the law? Yes. Then what about all the illegals that broke the law by coming here ILLEGALLY in the first place? Your a racist (typical response from this person). How is that? You don't want the poor to get ahead...your a hater.

Just like with the gun control issue. I don't agree with much of the latest round of gun control measures being tossed around the House and Senate. When I say that I get the typical " you love guns more than kids" or " you would not want to give up your gun rights for the children" Actually it's for my children and my childrens children that I am standing up and saying no more, keep you hands off and nose out of my freedoms.

@SavageMazx funny how that works when the facts hit them in the face the name calling begins showing no real worth to their input.
  • !
@tomincali its a tactic we here in Cali know well, did you know the President of the student body at Fresno State, one of the poster children for the "Dream Act" was an illegal, who drives with out a license, and admitted to voting. Let's count em 1,2,3 three laws broken in a single sentence...when it was pointed out, the person who did so was singled out as a racist. Got to love it, praise the criminal and persecute the law abiding citizen. Liberalism at its finest.
  • !
    @SavageMazx
As long as the liberals keep getting their votes it's all fine and good, let'em turn their backs on the liberals, that's when their the scum of the earth and get sent back to their country!
  • !
@SavageMazx i know about pedro and his crimes. nothing new from fsu. have you heard of the guy who complained over a article on white savages.

praise the criminal and persecute the law abiding citizens is accurate on most levels now in our country.

I left the Republican Party in 2008 because in my opinion they did not reflect my views, nor the majority of Americans' views. But IN THIS CASE, he is ABSOLUTELY, 100% CORRECT. It's like the old chestnut about what happened in Germany with the Nazis: "First they came for the homosexuals and the mentally ill; next for the Jews; then the Jehovah Witnesses, outspoken Catholics, Free Masons, Socialists, Communists; next any German who voiced his or her objections to the Nazis or gave protection to any of the above groups of people. I didn't say anything, because I wasn't in any of those groups. And then THEY CAME FOR ME. And there was no one left to speak on my behalf or object to my arrest". The same thing is happening here. They are going after the WEAPONS THAT ARE USED LEAST IN CRIME AND MURDERS, i.e., faux assault weapons. Next, they will come for the WEAPONS THAT ARE USED MOST IN CRIME AND MURDERS, i.e. HANDGUNS (82%); next they will be after SHOTGUNS (14%). ALL RIFLES, INCLUDING FAUX ASSAULT WEAPONS ARE USED IN LESS THAN 4% OF ALL CRIME AND MURDERS. See tinyurl dot com/Jim-McCauley for free downloads of US Department of Justice Reports, or just to read them.

So right about Germany. Ever wonder why the Government reversed itself on trying to wrestle the firearms away from Citizens the same old way it has for decades without much support. Now that the assault weapons, large capacity clips ban and the brady bill was allowed to expire, they made it so much easier to by guns and allowed conceal carry in almost every State. Since then, the population is saturated with guns and all they had to do then was set back and wait for the crazies to start shooting and killing. Now they're riding the wave of emotion caused by these mass shooting events to eventually gain what they've been after all along. If the 2nd amendment falls by the wayside, it won't be long before all our rights are gone.
  • !
While I was watching the Sunday morning talk shows, many dems acknowledged that an assault weapons ban will not pass the Senate. Why is it still being recommended by
Biden's commission? Its a bargaining chip.

Unless you go to carmax, when you purchase a car, do you pay whatever the dealer is asking? When you bought your house, Joe, did you pay exactly what the seller wanted? You seem intelligent, so I will assume both answers are no. Its the same thing here. The W.H. will negotiate and the assault weapon ban will go in exchange for a ban on large mags.

The blame for this tactic lies with the NRA. If they would have listened to their membership, if they would have been a LEADER and support sensible gun laws i.e. universal background checks, then the WhiteHouse wwouldn't have to propose drastic measures. But bc the NRA cares more about gun manufacturers than the wishes of its own membership, that is why we must endure the threat of bans.
  • !
@mtkopf You make good points. I've wondered if that agreement to raise the debt ceiling limit for 3 months Republicans agreed to had anything to do with a backroom deal with Democrats to back off on Assault Weapons Ban. The Ban on the large capacity mags is sort of a joke. There will be a black market for them and criminals will have no trouble in obtaining them. The reason there are so many members of the NRA who have acquiesced to the Ban on the large capacity magazines is that they are under the mistaken impression this will satisfy people like Mayor Mike Bloomberg (a BILLIONAIRE anti-gun powerhouse) and George Soros,(also a megabucks anti-gun powerhouse). The leadership of the NRA has a pretty good idea of the game plan of these folks. It's an incremental thing. The minute some other psycho uses a so-called assault weapon to commit a horrible crime, WITH 10 ROUND MAGAZINES, they'll be back at it. We live in a narcissistic world, and MOST people want "fame". The good people do it through positive ways. The evil people do it by their heinous crimes. The NRA does care about gun and ammunition manufacturers, but they know that THEY will survive through military and international sales to foreign militaries. They are honestly worried about the 2nd Amendment, and about what will follow if in the name of fighting terrorism and isolated mass shootings, the Bill of Rights continues to be eroded. Thank you for your excellent and thoughtful comments!

@st-louie12 You are correct, St. Louie. I have a feeling THAT might also have been the REAL motivation for the BATFE's "Fast and Furious" Operation! Hang tough. If you're not a member, give a thought to joining NRA. They have special rates for students, veterans, and older folks and you get your choice of one of their 2 magazines. I chose American Rifleman when I joined on December 24, 2012.

Before I got to that part of the story I knew the e-mail for what it is: a fund raising stunt. It plays well with his states voters and brings in the money.

Plant acorns everywhere, they grow into oak trees! We need more trees!

Well, if the people dumb enough to believe him are dumb enough to donate to his campaing then they deserve to be parted with their money. He's using this as nothing more than a fundraiser that benefits himself. Does he really need to start his campaign fund drive right this minute? Isn't it at all the least bit obvious? Well, I guess not. Someone above posted all liberals think that conservatives are stupid. I don't. I think anyone dumb enough to give this guy a dollar because they want to stop the selling of high capacity clips is a moron. I think anyone who wants go give Mitch McConnell money to do the job he's already being paid to do that he isn't doing is a moron. But hey, throw away your cash. It won't make a bit of difference. He'll vote against anything that Obama or the democrats put forth on the floor anyway. Simply because their are a lot of simple people and that's all it takes to please them from either party on any issue. Just say no to the other guy.

Talk about division, I think the politicians see the writing on the wall and are desperate to try and convince us we need them to protect us. I feel our guns are safe in our hands and that they will stay there. If the president wants to institute some feel good measures along with some common sense measures everybody will feel better and we can move on with things that must be done to salvage our economy and rebuild our nation.

Good job McConnell. Very true and the Feinstein Gun Ban must be defeated. If they get the guns, it'll be over for this country. Literally, guns are the only thing prevent the Soviet States of America.
  • !
Sure pal, sure. when has your second amendment right ever stopped a political movement or shift in our teeny part of the political spectrum?
  • !
Good for Mitch, someone has to step up on Capitol Hill. The good news the GOP controls the House so Gun Control won't be going anywhere for at least the next two years. As for the whole "confiscation" ideal, I'll I have to say is they can have my firearms when they pry them from my cold dead hands. If it isn't Constitutional, I will NOT follow it, despite what some Democrat Jackass on Capitol Hill puts on a piece of paper...

Its a lie fear tactic. Living in KY I actually received one of the mass phone calls he sent out and It was pure non sense that was worded in such a way to appeal to the low educated low informed population of the hills of KY.(its blatant falsity made me ill)

He came across to say "they are trying to take your hunting and fishing rights" which we all know is total BS. They (the christian republicans) have ran out of fear based rhetoric that works such as (abortion, gays, god) and they have found a new vise....guns.
It would be like calling nursing home residents and telling them that Obama is going to outlaw bingo!!!!(all hell will break lose!!!!)

I live in this state and I know the people, they are hard working good folks but they are ill informed from a combination of Fox news and the churches.
Ole Mitch will say ANYTHING to get re-elected he cares nothing about the low wages and very poor access to healthcare for the people in his state....

He needs to be re-elected so he can rake in another 20 million.
Now isnt it handy that Mitch wants ppl to focus on a lie about guns while ignoring the fact that his wealth while in office has increased 786% since 2004?

You work hard everyday, has your wealth increased 786%.....ever?

Classic liberal tactic. When the populace doesn't agree with you, call them uneducated. If you want to find uneducated voters, go to an Obama rally.
  • !
@OhWiseOne Now that is hitting the nail on the head.It might be a safe bet to suggest that 95% of drop puts are liberals and most likeley only know about the free stuff and how to milk the system.
  • !
The Gustapo led progressive liberal senate with many Benedict Arnold Republicans led by Harry "Heil Hitler" Reid....who does not like bringing things up for debate....won't discuss things....and rules like a dictator....is a disturbing problem....I commend Senator Mitch McConnell....
  • !
This last bit tells me all I need to know about this issue, and about Mitch McConnell:

"The email asks supporters to sign a petition opposing gun control measures and when they do, it takes them to a page to donate to McConnell's campaign."

He's scaring Kentucky's hillbilly contingent and scamming them out of their money. And yes, I can call them hillbillies if I choose - I lived among them for a few years.
  • !
I qualify as one of those hillbillies.....and, as a redneck representative, I agree. I wasn't really buying it to begin with. I feel like there are many other concerns that just make this gun rights banter a distraction. Like you, I get highly skeptical of anyone who addresses his constituents over his concerns to protect the rights....then let's them know their right to send him money is intact....

Please do not compromise with these idiots. If guns kill people, then so do cars and we need to outlaw them too. These so called progressive idiots do not think all the way through do they. Tell them to go shove their gun control up their, well you know where. Yeah the world was not like it was when the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were written. It is supposed to be better with thinking people and not just a bunch jerks who just want their way regardless of who it hurts or pisses off. Stand and show us you have a pair and don't negotiate with these idiots who have the idea that they call all the shots and we have to bow to their will.
  • !
@AceLuby We don't need more "gun control". Their idea of gun control is taking the guns away and locking them away from us so that we cannot defend ourselves against tyrants. I know cars are regulated, but I don't see them trying to tell us we need even more regs on them to keep us safe. You cannot regulate safety.
  • !
Our founding fathers must have seen that we the people needed guns to make it the number 2 thing on there to do list. They wanted us the people to have guns not to protect us from each other but from our own government. If you don't think we need to protect our freedom then give up those freedom and move to another county. This is the land of the FREE and home if the BRAVE.
  • !
Actually, if you know your history, it was #2 because there wasn't a standing army, therefore the 'militia' described in the 2nd amendment was the only defense the young country had.
  • !
@BigD What do you mean 'the British that claimed our land'? The British took it from the native americans and we took it from the British.
  • !
@BigD "to impose the governments will on the people they must disarm the people"

Great! Who said it and where was this done?

    Keep the following in mind:
The five worst mass killings have a common thread.
FT. HOOD…Registered Democrat, Muslim. COLUMBINE …Too young to vote, both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals. VIRGINIA TECH…Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff, Registered Democrat. COLORADO THEATER…Registered Democrat, staff worker on the Obama campaign, Occupy Wall Street participant, progressive liberal. CONNECTICUT SCHOOL SHOOTER…Registered Democrat, hated Christians. Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats or came from families that are. Also, of the worst killings in the last several decades, only one was a female, all the rest were boys, barely men, and none of them had a strong male father or role model in the household. Their role models were rappers, action movies, comics and violent video games. Our problem isn't weapons it is boys without boundaries who live in 'progressive' households.
  • !
This is illuminating....the very vitriolic progressive liberal Homeland Security stance that christians and conservatives and the constitution and the Bible and Biblical Values to be targeted and watched as domestic terrorists seem to be taking root....the very ones that proclaim to be tolerant are some of the most intolerant around....
Michael Savage wrote a book called Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder....it's starting to look that way....
