Secretary of State Hillary Clinton erupted during her much anticipated Senate testimony Wednesday morning, saying "What difference does it make?" when pressed about whether the Benghazi, Libya attack stemmed from a protest over an anti-Muslim video.
In the most heated exchange of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, criticized the White House for misleading the public by initially claiming the assault on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi developed out of protests. The administration later referred to it as a terrorist attack.
"With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans," interrupted Clinton. "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they'd go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again."
At a different point in the hearing, Clinton said, "We didn't have a clear picture ... and if you wish to fault the administration it's [because] we didn't have a clear picture and didn't do a good enough job of explaining we didn't have a clear picture."
